My existing boosters still work, But I haven't built any more since the update.
Just have some random info for anyone who cares;
Dug up these twitter posts from notch from a while ago regarding boosters in case anyone wanted to know:
@notch After finishing my fully automatic Minecart Station - Will the minecart booster glitch stay in the final version? Hope so...
Notch: @<NameRemoved> no promises, though! They look extremely silly..
Somebody else then suggested this:
@notch I'd gladly trade the booster glitch for a crafted block that accelerates passing objects. Same feature, more elegant implementation.
Notch : @<NameRemoved> yeah, I'd say that's a likely compromise.
So, we could potentially be getting a craftable booster block (or booster trackpiece, because imo that makes more sense)
But yeah, the booster glitch, is a glitch. It's technically not supposed to work in the first place.

It makes like a compass for day and night I think.
I really hope they're never removed, minecarts are all but useless without them and freaking awesome with them. The coal cart should actually exert more than one Newton of force on other carts. And run without the player holding right mouse the whole time...
No, mine still work. However, I do wish that Notch is in fact going to implement blocks that act as minecart boosters,as it would probably take up a lot less space and a lot less resources.

All that glitters is not gold.
Sometimes it's a DEADLY VIRUS.
Whether or not minecart boosters is a glitch, it's a feature that should stay because is makes the whole minecart experience worthwhile. I'd rather leave boosters than add a booster block for now.
IMO having something intentional (such as a block that acts like a booster) would be much better than a glitch.
I don't want to get rid of having the mechanic, but I definitely want to see it be an official feature rather than a mistake.
IMO it's much better to have it be a coded part of the game where he can fix bugs and control behavior, rather than it be an accident of physics where he doesn't have much control over it.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
You're right, some people can't read -- please refer to my earlier post where I said:
This way, we can still have our minecart stations.
Click a button, it activates the booster track, and boom here comes your cart.
How could you use a powered cart to make a minecart station, exactly?
I like my push-button -> Get Cart functionality. Redstone designs and all that are fun.
Powered minecarts are lame. I think it'd be MUCH more interesting and fun to have a seperate minecart track piece that, when receiving power, boosts your minecart's speed. Even if it doesn't do it to the max.
That way you can still have your stations and all the cool functionality people have built thus far.
The minecart glitch is one of the best gameplay mechanics out there, even if unintentional, I love setting up minetracks with boosters in all kinds of configurations, would be a loss if it was fixed.
Agreed, I really like the massive Automated Minecart system I have setup, where you just can step on a plate to receive the cart, and it has a fail safe, and weight activated booster, etc....Even if we got a powered minecart/track implemented, it would kill all of our automation that we have setup. Would be just a boring cart, sitting there waiting for you to use it... :tongue.gif:

A booster block would avoid the mine cart disappearance glitch too. If you have too many out some disappear...
glitch?
biiig bummer... :sad.gif:

but yeah i think a booster track peice would be very helpful in the future
but now i will have to go make some portals lol

<== MOTHER OF PEARL THEY KEEP APPEARING
what about the powered cart? once notch fixes it you wont need boosters.

Booster blocks sound the best but if the powered cart is supposed to be a lot stronger I see how that could work too.
