Some sand is spawned without gravity effecting it. If you destroy a block of the "floating" sand, it will fall. It has been known this can happen for a while.
Nice find, at least...
It doesn't happen on cliffs (most notably with gravel, you always see piles of it that fell from overhangs), but it does occur when it's left floating by the cave generator it seems.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Yep, I see that all the time at beaches. As soon as one block is busted, all the other blocks in that stack move, and it triggers movement in the adjacent stacks, too, setting off a chain reaction.
Ok, I finally figured that you get the map seed by just generating a new map from an existing level.dat file, so here's the seed for those who were interested:
To be more specific, the way I got it to work was by creating an empty folder named after one of my empty world slots (i.e. World5), and placing the level.dat file inside it. Then when I opened minecraft and opened the world 5 save it now claimed I had, it regenerated my world fresh.

Awesome. Thanks a lot.
Ditto. Just tried it out, and it's pretty cool. I found a cave near the spawn point that had a bunch of coal and a little bit of iron in it, now working on getting a house built in that starting desert. :smile.gif:

Go to hell!
No, really. Try going to hell.
