STOP BITCHING ABOUT US BITCHING, we need a place to vent!
Sorry,
sorrry for the fact that some of you people are to thick headed to realize that notch NEVER promised ANY updates for smp. He said he MAY.
Yes, and the playerbase MAY be upset because of that!
This should be priority #1, no fishing, no lanterns, no ghasts, no hell, fix multiplayer for the reason that it will make this game more popular and sell more copies if not for anything else. All I want is my one hour of work that I paid for this game to be put into multiplayer debugging.
I'm over it now.. I had my fun in singleplayer and its just a darn shame that I can't share this adventure with other people.
We all know that this is alpha, but there were expectations set. Just one fix of a major item would have stopped all this complaining.
Suggestion for notch, don't even announce a release until you have it done. That way you meet all the expectations.

Steps to creating a video game:
1. Make game work.
2. Then make it work in multiplayer.

In the beginning, Notch created the Nether and the Earth, and in it he made a man of sand and called him Steve. Notch made Steve strong so that he may punch wood, and lo, Steve was to have dominion over all square things.
Being an Alpha Tester, you can't DEMAND updates to happen like you paid god damn 60$ for a game. He doesn't have a sense of urgency for an update because it's not even a GAME yet. He isn't always going to update to please you! He is updating what is in the highest priority and what would be best for the game. I play multiplayer also, but i don't give a damn if he didn't update it! You can't just go around demanding updates because you bought the alpha version of the game. This isn't Runescape of something where its a whole god damn company behind a game and where you can get weekly updates. Go cry in a corner you jerks, Notch doesn't deserve you guys bitching at him.

you don't get upset because you don't get what you want while your testing the Alpha version of a game.

Everyone gets upset when theyre promised something about something they have already payed for, and nothing turns up. Or better yet, instead of your new item delivered by mail, you get a turd in an envelope.
yes, but you're not paying for the game, you're paying to TEST the ALPHA.

I alpha test to report bugs back to him and get stabbed by the NDF each time I mention one.

The ALPHA was 13$ the GAME is 26$
You paid for alpha, kthx.
No the GAME is 13$ while the GAME is in ALPHA.
I dont magically need to buy it again each release, I payed for the GAME, the GAME merely happens to have a tag saying "ALPHA".
Either way, you guys are treating it like a FULL game where there isn't supposed to be ANY bugs. I can see your point though.

I'm not treating it like a full game, I'm merely saying that a huge regression in the server has made it nigh unplayable for many, where before there was no such issue.
It's unplayable because of no health and monsters? Wow, thats sooooo bad that multiplayer has that wrong with it.
"I love how supporters of finite torches say they want a more challanging game and then in later threads talk about using peaceful mode when building."
Survival Mode Multiplayer is priority #1
I just finished moving minecraft.net to a new server, and it’s looking fairly stable. I fixed a few bugs with creative mode, so that should be working now as well.
Now I will rest for a few days, as I’m utterly exhausted. After that, I will get cracking on Survival Mode Multiplayer, as it’s still the highest priority for the game.
*snip*
The biggest features that need fixing are;
* Fixing the performance issues
* Health and working enemies
* Finishing up the inventory code so the dupe bugs/glitches go away
* Figuring out how to run both the normal world and the nexus in parallel.
I also want to make the portals able to teleport players between servers, both on different IPs and just to a different port on the same IP. Player equipment will follow through the portal and everything! (that will be agreed upon between the servers, so they don’t have to trust the client)
Imma gonna just leave this here so all yall can just calm down a bit.
That's great, didn't bother to see I already quoted that did you?
I just saw a link that some people won't even bother to click and continue to just argue. I'm just posting some info straight from it so that people who are complaining that SMP isn't getting attention can stop whining. While also citing my source.
Notch never says that SMP or SSP is more important, his blog only states that as of right now SMP is the highest priority, my guess because he want's it to hurry and be into beta but said that won't happen till SMP works as well as SSP.
tl:dr
You left a link and presented nothing else.
I presented information and left a link to my source.
You never really cited or quoted anything

Thank god! BUT This should have been stated at the announcement of the Halloween update.
If it was, then we wouldn't have the Halloween update. it would be a somewhat important bug fix upate that happens to occur on Halloween and is not scary.
I paid ten Euros for an ALPHA release of a Java game.
As a result, I expect things to not work properly until beta.
So far, I've had NO game-breaking problems in single-player.
So stop trying to ruin my multi-player experience by demanding that everything be fixed before beta!
That's actually a pretty good idea. I should try that! Thanks!

Hey! I ain't an NDF.
I rated this update as a 6 out of 10 because of the bugs it was riddled with and how much i would like to play working SMP with my brother.
The one thing I hate about this community is that you either apparently hate notch or you're an NDF.
No middle ground? really guys? you must love to argue and categorize people.
