This is what someone who has paying customers should do and is expected to do. There better be a lot more of these patches coming in the next few days.
People have only pre-ordered the full game, which will be released somewhen in the future. By pre-ordering during the alpha phase they only need to pay half the price, and get access to the alpha development version. They knew beforehand that there was no set release date for the final version, not even an estimate. No one forced them to pre-order. And now as they already have pre-ordered, no one forces them to participate in testing the alpha version. If they don't like the alpha, they can still just wait for the final version.
This is Alpha. Personally, having an Alpha like this is better than expected. He also could drop this at any time so I for one am not going to criticize a few minor glitches when he gave us the Nether and a fishing pole capable of flinging mobs into the air. (Well done on that btw) He got the biggest glitch fixed asap. Well done.
Your update didn't download. Do you get the message that says it could not communicate with minecraft.net and has a "play offline" button? If so, check your firewall settings. Failing that or if you don't get the "Play Offline" option, try downloading the client program again.
Also, check to make sure your minecraft program folder is set to "read only" or something.

"BAWW Halloween update is bugged!"
Less than 24 hours later:
"Oshit, he fixed the bug already" <-- I hope to see at least one of those whiners say something like this.
Hehe :biggrin.gif:
Sheepish fanboy doesn't like dissent.
Also, it was just one bug. I haven't really had an issues with bugs, yet, but I acknowledge that it is perfectly reasonable to be irritated by these kinds of things. It's not like it means they hate Notch or something, it just means they just want the game to be enjoyable, and function properly.

In the beginning, Notch created the Nether and the Earth, and in it he made a man of sand and called him Steve. Notch made Steve strong so that he may punch wood, and lo, Steve was to have dominion over all square things.

I like how the notion that the Halloween update should have never been released in this condition completely escapes you.
I like how the notion of getting a Halloween update out on Halloween completely escapes you.
Made me lol.

I think the main problem with this forum is, a lot of you are either operating on the level of a child or you may actually be a child. I hadn't considered that since I've only posted on forums with other adults.
If you can't tell the difference between complaining and constructive criticism go back to your homeroom and chat about whatever garbage music you kids listen to these days.
He spent most of the month getting his company together.
And frankly **** you if you think a man should slave away for you 24/7 instead of having free time.
How about you do a break down of how much time you spend a day actually working?
Gladly. 8 hours working, 5 days a week, probably at least a good 10 hours out of the house. That said, I'm not a millionaire, and I don't have the luxury of being able to do something that I like (that clearly, Notch does).
As has also been said before, he chose a pretty bad time to form a company, and those of us who have paid to play this, paid the price with an update that clearly went untested.
My goodness, you just don't get it. For a start, the game is in ALPHA. Look up what that means. You didn't buy a finished product, you got a discount because you bought it at the alpha stage. All future updates are free and when it updates you complain.
When would you have liked him to set up a company? When would have been the best time for you? What on earth do you even mean by that? You're just looking for reasons to complain, wise up or move out.
Yes, it is buggy at the moment. The bugs will get fixed. The real question is, why are you such an impatient, whiny, conceited, nitwit? You get what you paid for, a product in alpha, which has been relatively bug free until the update (which isn't out 24 hours yet).
The truth is, you just don't know what you're talking about but thought you'd mouth off anyway because that's the kind of person you are. You have literally no grounds for being so butthurt. You just are because misunderstanding and complaining are easier to do and you always take the easy route.
And if he is out for 18 hours a day 5 days a week and 10 hours a day on the other 2, when the hell would he have time to actually play minecraft? lol

Haha, wow. If he fixed reported bugs within 24 hours, all these people who have been bitching are about to shrink 3 ego sizes.
While your ego grows proportionally I assume?
As far as I can tell he fixed a single important bug - one that was probably very straight forward. I'm happy that he has done it and already posted a thank you, but let's not go over the top about it eh?
There's always an idiot like you on every game. All you do is ***** and moan. Notch might've gotten rich now or whatever your argument is, but he's still working alone. Go back to World of Warcraft if this game buggs you so much.
No pun intended.
Dude wtf? He wasn't complaining, he was just stating that we shouldn't be overly enthusiastic. Perhaps he meant we should play-test some more and provide Notch with more valuable feedback.

That kinda hurts. I sorta take offense to it, but alas it is far too true...at least the first part is.
Anyways, the updates coming fast are awsome. Notch is doing a bang-up job on this. I hope to god that he doesn't give up because this is a great project with many people playing. Hell to think about it this could be his legacy. So let's get out there and provide some valuable feedback for him so that he can get his part in with our help.

Sorry, what's the big deal, is Halloween big over there or something? He's made millions on this, it's not like he couldn't afford to wait until some of the bugs were ironed out.
Like someone else said, too, perhaps next time he might want to get started on it sooner, rather than spending much of his time playing that Super Meat Boy game on the Xbox 360 and then cramming for the update over the last half a week.

delayed update, no bugs:
