This, so far, is the most reasonable "dissappointed" thread about the update. Yes, the leaves not disappearing when the trunk is removed it a bit frustrating for now, but in the end, the sacrifices were worth it in my opinion.
I agree with this.
I knew going into this that there WOULD be bugs. And they probably would be pretty annoying (the vanishing inventory bug REALLY isnt helping me now. Particularly when I die over and over in the Nether world. It's easy to die when 7 Ghasts are blasting at you in a really lumpy fire field with mud-stuff everywhere)
And yeah, the whole "leaves dont vanish" thing bothers me too. It looks stupid, and it means that saplings wont automatically fall from a chopped down tree.
And of course there's other bugs.
But overall, I think the update was totally worth it.
I mean, the Friday updates were great and all, but it was always really small stuff.
This time though, Notch actually gave himself a large amount of time, and sat down and worked with it; not only did we get some new items and things (that fishing pole is all sorts of awesome, and the watch is super-useful like the compass), but we also got an entire alternate dimension, and all of the wackiness that adds to the game (FINALLY A PLACE WHERE I CAN FIND MUSHROOMS!!!! And die horribly in the process....), AND Biomes were added correctly, which produces some pretty amazing scenery.
I'm really happy with this update as a whole. I think the ONE thing I'd like to see added right now, is more block types in the Nether, as well as some crafting uses for the blocks that appear there. Even without that though, this is still amazing. I'd rather have him do large updates like this than the Friday updates.
Or secret large updates, that way people aren't expecting it and love it more when they get it! Just kidding :3.
I had the same problem with the Ghasts! Seven all around me, blowing me up. I didn't realize how big they were to O.o.
But overall, I do find the update satisfying. Experimenting with the portals is really fun.
Leaves disappearing when you take out the trunk NEVER EVER worked properly for me anyway. Which is why I always carry a steel and flint when I got logging.
Bugs! You are lucky to call these little things bugs! We used to play in a mobless world with no inventory, unpickable flowers and endless obsidian lines running four directions from the spawn! You must have been very lucky to find a giant brick piramid which was totally useless. And if you dug long enough, you didn't find caves, diamonds or lava, you just fell into the void, and no bedrock layer to warn you.

Yeah.
I swear, whoever said "ghasts are easy to kill" in a topic I saw earlier was LYING.
I keep going into the Nether. I keep DYING. (but holy crap, is it ever awesome)
Ghasts everywhere (8 is the max that I've seen on screen at once so far), ALWAYS freaking shooting at me, usually from out of my arrow range, lighting fires with every blast, when half the landscape is ALREADY on fire, and the landscape is shaped like crazy to begin with, AND lava lakes, AND Pigmen shoving me offa cliffs and going totally bonkers if I accidentally poke one, and....
I mean, really, the place is super dangerous, for me anyway, even if there's only one or two ghasts attacking. I just.... keep..... dying. LAST time I died, I was trying to dodge a Ghast, and I got overconfident cause there was only one, and then I fell in a huge patch of that mud stuff, and.... yeah. Mud. Argh.
Anyway, enough about that, I'll let you all go back to the topic at hand....

Ah yeah, those were the days, werent they. We had better sunlight back then, too. Real QUALITY sunlight. We dont get sunlight like that THESE days. And it was 15 miles to school every day, in the snow, uphill, both ways....
This is the buggiest it will ever be, you just got a tough it cause at the end an amazing game is waiting for you.
Pray tell, what comes before Alpha?
Because we're going backwards here. Tree leaves don't disintegrate, items aren't dropped on death, there are mobs spawning everywhere, and armor doesn't work. These are all things that were apparently working properly 24 hours ago.
Thanks for the spelling lesson, but we're not in Alpha anymore. We're in pre-alpha, whatever it's called, and we're most certainly paying to beta test. I have no problems with that, like most I knew it was an alpha when I bought it, but we should be going forwards, not backwards.

Does this mean we have to get off your lawn now? I'm just getting my baseball. ;___________;

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.

Lawn! We used to have 3x3 cubes lawns. With no grass at all!
It's a good thing the Bloodstone doesn't spark when it's on fire o.o;; that was what I was worried about the most. Oh and the sand, yeah I know how you feel. -.- Slows you down, but pretty interesting stuff nonetheless. Allows people to make whole new traps, and older ones more effective (the TNT+Arrow trap) 'cause before the mob could just get away, now they'll be trodding away slowly and either exploding or getting showered by arrows in the process! I wonder if it's slow even when jumping...?

Hahaha! Loving your posts (and the replies they are getting)!
I am a little upset about the losing all stuff whenever you die deal but I think worst of all is the fact that leaves no longer disappear once the trunk is gone. As someone who dislikes things floating around in the middle of the air this is bugging me to no end. :sad.gif:
I really hope this is fixed sometime soon
I never had this happen to me, or at least I've never noticed as after I chop all the wood I light the tree on fire :smile.gif:.

And that's -really- minor, so overall, the update is pretty sick.

Honestly, I am not sure. If it doesn't, that would render my post before the last one on this thread useless. o.o;;
