I think he meant that he had a snow map (from before Biomes) that he is still using, and the snow parameter of that map might be screwing with the portal stuff.

^ yes, I had a snow map from before the update and I'm guessing something with that is messing up my portals.

Anyone with a snow map save from before the update care to test this theory?

Actually, the only time torrenting would do anything would be if he pirated an older version; I'm pretty sure that most people are persistent, and usually that's the first thing they do after an update.

OP: are you using any mods?
One might be interfering with the portal stuff.

Are you running a version past 1.2.0? Because else, you're going to need to buy the game to get the Nether and portals. The reason I say buy the game, is because of this:

I think OP solved his problem. I know I am not using any mods nor did I torrent/pirate. If you read the whole thread you can see where we are...

why don't you torrent the version and add it on to the game
