i understand that im just saying the bow shouldn't be the only way to kill them if im going to run into them and not have enough arrows to kill all of them.

Yeah, did yall see the PC Gamer videos? he was trying to give us a view of hell, but the Ghast was DESTROYING everything around him. I would **** myself if i saw that thing floating in my non-hell world. The ghast would drop a little ball thing and it would pretty much bomb the 8 blocks around it with fire.

Minecraftin' since indef. Haven't missed a patch since.
The only reason why Ghast are annoying is how they have a tendacy to gang up on you. the last two times i entered the Nether, i was eventually attacked by one ghast, then the others started spawning in the nearby area, and immedeatly noticing and attacking me. The first time, i was against like 10 ghasts with some zombie pigmen wandering near me, and attacking the ghasts. The area looked like an batlefeild afterwards.
The only thing I don't like about them is that the only semi-useful material in the Nether, brightstone, is only found on the celings of large, ghast-infested caverns.

Well, after enjoying Minecraft for a long time I finally broke down and contributed back: exactly one adventure map. TRY IT NOW! YAY! Fall of Kingdoms
In my opinion, Ghasts are severely UNDERpowered... They have very small amount of life(Die one hit with diamond sword), and very easy to avoid if you REALLY don't have a means of fighting them...

Their health and damage probably needs to be upped somewhat.
As far as the fire immunity, I think they are immune to flames, but not contact with lava.
I've seen them wander through lava many times and it seems like when they move away from the lava in time, being on fire doesn't actually harm them.

A fun (and slightly more challenging way) to kill a ghast without using the bow is through the fishing rod and a sword/axe! First, when you have the ghast's attention, use the sword/axe to either deflect its attacks, or if you're skilled, volley their flames right back at them! Then, as soon as the ghast gets into range, use the Fishing Pole to grapple it and start slashing until it floats out of range. Repeat this until the ghast is defeated! Another way to use this method is to simply grapple the ghast into a lava fall, but this means you won't get any gunpowder in return.
not at all, their aim is worse then a skeleton's.
Also your in the HELL/NETHER world monsters are supposed to be tuff. Live with it.

A Guy From England: Wait Americans know of other things that aren't in there country!? When did they become aware of others
someguyreplying:@heavycruise other things outside our country? but england is state 52 right?
They're definitely not overpowered, my first foray in hell I portal-ed in a cave over the roof of a huge cavern, while I was trying to find a way to dig down a Ghast saw me and I fell to the floor. I didn't die from the impact, but I was surrounded by 5-7 Ghasts and I frantically ran away while dodging their attacks. I almost made it back to my portal too, but I got startled and hit a pigman climbing up my staircase.
...He didn't take too kindly to that...
All in all, I'd say the Ghasts feel about right, they can be dangerous at times, and you definitely don't want any of them hanging around you, but it's the Pigmen that are the potentially most dangerous of Hell's denizens-every time I've died in hell it was because of them.
well... I think it should be easier to deflect the fireballs. and also, ive found its generally easier to simply take the fireball rather than dodge it, because fireballs take away the hellstone, thus no more ground, and in hell a very good way to die is to fall 6000 meters down and land in a sea of lava. its easier to have to find a bit more pigmen for meat than it is to swim through lava, in short.
Ghasts are supposed to be the most powerful mob right? Then why can I kill one with only a fishingrod. In my opinion Zombie Pigmen are more overpowered.
No, only Rdps and healer
.

Same, and I played this game like the week after it came out >_> strange.

If they weren't we'd still be raging about creepers.
I click yours, you should help a brother out and click mine too :-)
Ghasts aren't fireproof, and kill their selves in lava, at least until it's fixed.
What have you been playing?
This gave me Zelda flashbacks. I'll have to try this.

Yes.
1: You flamed him for referencing Runecraft calling him a 7 year old.
2: You say that Notch should make ghasts as easy as pigs since you can't kill one. Just grab a bow.
3: O-o-o-off-topic ranting about snow FTW.
And so that that this post doesn't follow your chain,
I don't ghasts are "overpowered".
in fact they're rather underpowered.
The only way they're hard is if you don't have a bow and arrow;
The same reasons Creepers are hard if you don't have a stubby fist.
Or if farming is hard if you don't have a hoe.

Not fireproof. Maybe resistant to flaming arrows, but not fireproof. I've seen them take a dip in lava and catch on fire many times.
:|
They are fireproof but not lavaproof.
If you watch they flash red whenever they go into lava but stop flashing whenever they come out, even if they are still on fire.
