With these ghast, petty griefing like lighting houses on fire can't really be considered griefing anymore since legit mobs will be doing it now. If a griefer doesn't burn it down, there's probably a good chance that a ghast will. Thoughts?
No really. Why would a new mob put griefers out of work? They'll still go and destroy things.
Griefers grief to get attention and **** people off. But with this update, things getting set on fire may make people think "WTFghast" instead of "OMFGGRIEFER(insert whining here). And, of course, the number of wooden buildings is going to drop like a stone with fireball shooting jellyfish floating around.
They may grief less because one of their tools for griefing will be in the hands of a mob, therefore not griefing. This will be doubly true if pvp is implemented in the update, as ordinary players will be able to retaliate if they are griefed.
One could argue that it will be easier for griefers to do their dirty work. If a SMP server has a Hell portal anywhere near a city or structure and Ghasts spawn nearby, all a griefer has to do is kite the Ghast(s) to the town or structure and draw fire to destroy creations.

For there is naught to fear;
the gang's all here,
so hail to West Virginia, hail!
Ontopic : Lol, find someone griefing, stab them in the face. If it's a true survival server, then griefing is fair game. No one said players had to co-operate.
according to the limited information at this time, it seems like Ghasts need room to spawn around a portal. Common sense says to build a narrow 2*1 entry right up the portal, and put the whole deal underneath a pyramid that is large enough that the ghast's proximity/portal-adjacent spawn zone was covered.
I'll probably just do this with sand or dirt since its available above the surface. I wouldn't put a portal room in an uncharted underground space, just in case there are nearby caves and one could spawn above you and then be a nasty surprise later.
Oh, and the deep levels of my mine are infested with slimes, btw
The last thing they will care about is a job.

Unless you spawn more overlords

Open her up and watch the ghasts pour out
But to do that you require additional Pylons(Even though Overlords take no food)
Don't you mean supply depots? We already had a Protoss and Zerg entry in the list!
