Sorry I definately need to clean this post up it is getting crouded. I will clean it up a little later.
also can this be pinned or whatever that is?

Oh, and; Biomes will get larger. I'll tweak snow regions a bit as well.
Notch just posted on his twitter what the 11 Biomes are. More info coming soon.

For those who argue that there are only 10 then seperate the above quote there ARE 11 and here is the actual link if you wish to check the quote.http://twitter.com/notch/status/28820027856
1)rainforest,
2)temperate rainforest,
3)seasonal forest,
4)forest,
5)savanna,
6)shrubland,
7)taiga,
8)desert,
9)grass desert,
10)ice desert,
11)tundra
5 forests, 3 'grassland'-type biomes, 3 deserts [edit] im putting tundra into grassland. even though its what is in between a grassland and desert. Or at least I think. Please correct me if im wrong.[edit

Those biomes (11 of them!) are generated right now, but most of them look the same. The level save knows what's where, though.
To the right of the player is a Taiga (mostly over the ocean), to the left is either a Forest, or Woods, I can’t remember. In the distance is probably tundra.
Remaining work on biomes include letting them change the elevation (deserts, plains, tundras and swamps should all be flat), and changing the grass color depending on the biome type. The border between frozen biomes and not frozen ones will get way nicer.
The sky color changes slightly depending on how cold the area you are in is.

Kinda working biomes: There's much work left to be done.
Quote from Video Description »
It might be hard to tell, but there's about 10 different biomes in this video. The most obvious ones are the arctic ones (with and without trees) and the desert ones. I will spend time on giving the other ones unique looking features like new trees and so.
Grass, leaf and sky color varies depending on the temperature and humidity in the area you are.
The music is by C418.

thank you this is the reason it took a while to post was because i was trying to seprate them
Ice desert would be, for example, the Sahara, but instead of sand there is ice. Nothing else. That's why Antarctica is considered a desert, barely any moisture and it is barren.

Though, like Miclee wrote, Taiga and Desert should probably be separated, as dylloop has only written down 10 biomes, when Notch said 11.

possibly. (assuming notch knows that)
or he might be inventing a new biome.
also: taiga and desert are different things.
taiga is russian for forest, and is a frozen forest above a tundra.

Its actually not a taiga desert. It is a taiga and a desert because a taiga is a coniferous forest with a snowy climate.
Notch told us that two of the factors in biomes would be temperature and parcipitation (just like real climate zones!). here's my ideas for what they are:
rainforest - hot and wet
temperate rainforest - temperate and wet
seasonal forest - cold and wet?
forest - ?
savanna - hot and average rain
shrubland - temperate and average rain
taiga -cold and average rain
desert - hot and dry
grass desert - temperate and dry
ice desert - cold and dry
tundra - ?
I don't know about forest and tundra because they don't really fit in. Tundra is probably mostly dirt and lots of snow, and forest could be basically what we have now maybe?

Then a desert is well...sand.
EDIT: NINJAD!!!!!
Yey I think he listened to my Ice Desert idea. :smile.gif:
Also, taiga and desert are incompatible, so that makes 11.

This is going to be awesome!
I can see trees forming differently per biome. Example:
Rainforest have high canopies:

Seasonal Forest might act like the ones we see now, sorta bulb shaped foliage.
And forest are more evergreen, triangular:

But what gets me is shrubland... will they be new foliage for shrubs that can grow or be place like cacti.

And the wording of 'seasonal'... will seasons be implemented in the future?
A taiga is not a snow covered mountain.
A taiga is just a tundra with trees. (which sometimes occur on mountains, but also typically occur not on mountains)
also, tundras have low brush and grass often-times, as well as rocks jutting out of the earth with lichens and other fungi (musrooms?).
