After playing for quite a few weeks straight, I started to get little bored admittedly. I decided it'd be best to take a break until the update, as not only will I start over fresh and new but I'll also have much new content to play around with. I get the feeling that after not playing for a months, exploring biomes and hell will just blow my mind.
Anyone else get bored like me and doing the same? And how many of you are going to just start a new world altogether?
I decided to not play at all as of a few weeks ago in an attempt to make myself study for exams. Instead, I've just endlessly visited the forums and the subreddit and made mockups in creative mode for things I plan on building in survival.
I'm sort of torn - on the one hand, I want to make a nice base in preparation for the update.
On the other hand, I might make a new save, so doing my old base is pointless in a way. Also, I don't want to explore, or else I'll have to go even further to reach Biomes.
Guess I'll just wait for stuff to be fresh and interesting.
I'm not playing until the update because I know anything I make while playing will be wasted effort. Even though exploring more territory in a non-biome world will reveal biomes, I just do not like the idea of a perfectly normal minecraft map in the middle of an amazing new biome filled one.
Most deinfatley. At the moment, I'm pretty bored with minecraft, but the new biomes and hell will make things a lot more intresting. I may re-inact the 'Meet-the-Soilder' TF2 trailer with pumpkins :wink.gif:
playing xbox all day pwning noobs that are lame killing elites with my awsome shotgun sniping down stalkers with my pulse riffle playing tf2 pwn with fire gonna light the enemy with my big bad lighter! [url=http://www.minecraftanonymous.com][/url
I've taken a break, only thing I've done with my current save since the 19th is make a schematic of my giant castle incase I want to import it to my new save at some point.
I took a break for a bit, so that the update would hit me a bit harder when it gets here and the entire game will feel fresher. Plus I have to read up on obsidian techniques if I want to go to Wooby Dooby Land; I literally NEVER use the stuff in SP ever.

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.
Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that there is no such thing as playing Minecraft normally.
I played so much I got bored with it, but now that I'm taking a break until the update, I've started getting "the itch" to build again. By the time the update rolls around, I should be chomping at the bit to build again

Well this is just me but... Water moats are so wet and dirty and annoying.... Real men make moats of liquid hellfire forged in the bowels of the earth and torn from the teat of the unholy adminium. Real MANLY Men create a LAVAFALL of death.
I took time out to configure one of my old computers into a dedicated server box, I'm gonna host locally to a few of my friends. Should be a good night of fun.
Not me -- I've just started playing this game, and haven't come close to exhausting all the possibilities in the existing world.
In fact, the upcoming patch is going to be very annoying -- nobody knows how lanterns will be crafted yet, but there's still lots of people claiming (speculating?) that they will require materials only found in Hell. It's ********, of course -- Notch is too smart a game designer to make such a radical, potentially game-breaking change at this stage of development -- but there's always that 0.1% chance that it's true, right?
I'm looking forward to biomes, though. In fact, I'm avoiding new explorations for now, to allow space for future "chunks" where biomes will be created.

Wouldn't bet on that, personally think it's smart game design.
I think most people have played it long enough to want more multiplayer implementation. There are many great things you can do already in singleplayer survival mode that is too bugged for multiplayer, such as redstone, doors, minecarts, and boats. One of my favorite servers won't let us use boats because it crashes the server.
It sounds like Notch is playing with his game engine in the best ways to me such as adding more variety in the landscapes and adding totally new zones via portals and making the game a tad more difficult. The game in my opinion is way too easy. Once you get enough torches to light up an area you feel too safe and there isn't much else to do.
