It won't happen. The community will always call it hell. Doesn't matter what Notch says. And the difference between 'hell' and 'aspergite' or 'emeralds' is that the majority of MC players don't mind calling it hell. So, get used to it.
You do realize "The Community" barely exists yet, right? Minecraft is still growing at an alarming rate, and it'll keep growing until the game is done, which could be a year from now. Us Alpha players will become the minority, and no one will give a crap what we say about what Minecraft used to be or should have been. That includes preliminary terminology and placeholders.
The latest word is that it might be called The Core.
But then we can totally kick them off our lawns saying things like "I remember when the WHOLE WORLD was a temperate zone biome!" and "Torches used to last forever, man, like on every setting. No, really!"

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.
Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that there is no such thing as playing Minecraft normally.
Notch is actually forcing a meme by putting "Entering the slip" into the loading screen. This will probably make my original post moot.
I'd just like to point out: This made me chuckle.
PlataniumR: "Screw people overly sensitive about their religion! Keep it named Hell World! Developers need to stop making games so [politically correct]"
Notch: "I agree with you, but I also want to avoid using christian mythology.. I want it too feel fantasy!" (Oct 22, 2010)
