Someone didn't understand what I meant by "drop it"
I'm not going to argue with you.
Understood and cared are NOT the same thing.
Perhaps people don't care if you respond, just as long as your arguments are made to seem as bad as they are :wink.gif:
In which case, you not responding makes the job easier.
So...
yeah.
1) You're jumping to conclusions. Christians believe in a metaphysical being because of historically verifiable evidence, not just because of feelings.
2) Many things that we all believe cannot be proven by the scientific method. For instance, do you believe that Abraham Lincoln existed? Why? You can't prove it scientifically, you can only surmise it based on historical evidence. That's faith. Or, do you believe your parents love you? How do you know? You can't prove that scientifically.
3) Science and faith are inherently connected, not disconnected, or the simple reason that believing that science can prove ANYTHING requires faith in the scientific method. How do you know the universe actually functions in predictable ways? Perhaps all the seeming logic that we've observed is just luck. How do you know anything exists period? You are putting faith in your own very fallible senses, which is arguably just as illogical as what you accuse Christians of doing.
4) We both know that we aren't going to convince the other of anything. The basic point still stands that what 'i <3 mc' said was stupid, juvenile, and uncalled for. Whether it had "meaning" to anyone else is irrelevant. I could say something like "all blacks are stupid monkeys that don't deserve anything more than slavery," and someone on here might agree with me, but that doesn't change the fact that it's offensive and uncalled for. So let's drop this subject, because neither of us are going to get anywhere, and it's detracting from the original thread.
Hell isn't offensive to me, how could it be, it's not real, but people who think like you, and are very real, are.

I'm sorry your holiness, believe it or not it took some time to do the formatting, and and manage a few phone calls. If it pleases master, I'll get back to the OP;

And the illustration can always be moved to another example. We don't have the DNA of every known historical person.
Logic tells us if something contradicts.
Science tells us what we know.
We can make statements about what we know - but we cannot make statements about what we don't know.
This is because, when the information is incomplete, there's often more than one possible conclusion. Neither science nor logic will magically make an inconclusive statement conclusive if there is not enough information to lead to a single conclusion.
"faith" in the loose sense of the word just means you trust what you have learned. You trust your science books, your science teachers, and peer reviewed scientific journals. You may not have done the experiments yourself, but you trust others that have done them. Some people would say you have faith in them.
And not being scientific is not equivalent to being false or illogical. Logic is used in science, but does not depend on science. It is perfectly acceptable to use logic in fields that are not scientific, and I see no contradiction if people want to use it for things not related to science.
. . . and if you wish to say I am not being logical, I would request that you show me the contradiction.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
The name Hell is fine. Anyone with a problem needs to lighten up, in my opinion. I am tired of butthurt people trying to cause problems. Also, I am a christian.

One day, there will be someone who looks at my signature and wonders "who gives a damn?"
I'll still call it Hell no matter what Notch ends up calling it. It's a horrible place with lava and demons. If you don't call it Hell then you're being a hypersensitive douchebag.
Minecraft is predominately Medieval... lets called it Hades instead.
I'm sorry I read this and just couldn't let it slide, Hades is a GREEK myth, in medieval times they still called hell, hell. Medieval times were not ancient greek times.

I already corrected myself
Why can't you people just let it go!
Personally, I couldn't care less what he calls it. The game currently makes absolutely no reference to names of anything, so it's all up to the user's imagination anyway.
I'm not going to argue with you.

It's a land populated with flying jellyfish, so....
I shall call it Squishy! And it shall be mine and it shall be my Squishy!
I'm offended by it, not because of the content of the thread but because of the poorly executed points.
Now if people would just learn how to intelligently debate divisive subjects this could be interesting, it's not.
