who doesn't like sailing through your precious daylight across a completely useless environment, yeah lets make them bigger, and since visability goes away about five spaces down, and the increased likely hood that you will flood your mine, who wouldn't want these pointlesssly vast bodies to go pointlessly deeper?

Let's have burning bags of poo in minecraft, that would make the game better too!

unfortunately for your ill-favored wishes, I build my contructs out of the reach of such easily avoidable waylays, though I will send the tnt back your way once I kill it and take its drops.
I admit that oceans would be nice. As things are now you can pretty much always see the shore somewhere and even the deepest water is rarely more than 10 blocks deep or so. I'd actually enjoy having regions where the water can reach all the way down to bedrock in some places as well as having areas where there is literally no land in sight. Would certainly make underwater construction more impressive in deep water.

And if oceans become a very interesting biome and riddled with rare or useful resources...??
Replace the raptor with a skeleton, the RPG with a creeper, and the shark with a spider. You sir, have the ability to make peoples pants dirty with their own excrement.

And maybe bigger boats or having some way of connecting boats to drag along a chest?
It would be awesome to put all your things into a chest, take out scuba gear and go to the bottom of an ocean and look for stuff... Of course you need to fend off mobs as well :biggrin.gif:

If oceans get bigger, he better throw in a recipe for outboard motors.
I'd rather see sails first. Contrary to popular belief, sailing is really really easy and fast! and Its still practical to go across and even up wind as well as down wind, although to do that you'd need wind.. Plus I imagine for powered boats you could just combine a boat with a furnace to make a steamboat.

My character jumps higher than your character.
Your awareness of your surroundings rivals that of Dora the Explorer.

Well, you don't have to sale the ocean. :tongue.gif: No need to be such a sourpuss.

Nature should really stop catering to all these furries! I mean, do we REALLY need two kinds of elephant? Puh-leaze.

Exploring the sea floor would be amazing. It could be, like RL, an entirely different world with new sights, resources and.. dangers..
We are going to need some waterproof lights. It becomes very dark just a short ways down and I hate to imagine what sort of horrors would lurk at the bottom of a Minecraft ocean.
Hopefully Notch could allow us to put glass on lanterns so that lanterns will be waterproof :biggrin.gif:
But they'll die out from not a lot of oxygen, like torches. So you'll have to relight them.

Yeh, right now the map is mostly just a random 50/50 mix of land and water
I hope it becomes more like this:
And on a larger scale, somewhat like this:
A mix of a one large continent, a few smaller continents, and many tiny islands (Preferably in an island chain, and of a size and style similar to the old indev finite island maps.)
Larger continents would be up to 15km across, and contain a desert interior (As inland areas are drier) and more mountains, Middle sized continents would be 2-8km across, and be a nice mix of different biomes. Islands would be a max of 500 meters across and be tropical, frozen (Like the islands near Antarctica) or desert.
Also, there needs to be some mechanism to stop players building straight 5,000 meter long 1 meter wide dirt paths over the sea. Those look ugly as **** and just ruin the whole point of boats.
While I love your ideas, the last one..Well the point of Minecraft is to do things your way, isn't it? Why stop them from doing that if they so choose to, if its MP then just destroy it when you need to go through on your boat and if its SP..It won't affect you.

Because while Notch improves one side of something, he'll leave the other side (And practically the entire point of it) untouched, right?

Do not get attached to your saves, seriously, stuff like this has happened before, if there's something you love and really want to build...Wait for release.
the oceans cant be too deep or the player will not have enuff air to reach the surface if the player hits the ocean floor so i would have to disagree with the notion of deepening oceans if thts what ur getting at
