i dont mean to sound like im going on and on againstthe majority, but i dont think what im saying, or you could go to to the end of this to hear my finsl hopes. (i haz bad grammars wen on internets) i have beses, like 3-4 that are like strongholds: main residence/mansion, Dusk factory, treehouse (unfinished curently), Crafterstown, and a few minor settlements. they have walls built since i arrived there.. terraforming and working day and night to get it done before night. now i also nomadic (for those who are too young to know what that means, it means that they arent staying somewhere. like following heards of animals to get what they need.) i build quick woll tents, wooden door, and few torches. every time during night i go out i try to stay in the light because i cant see in the dark and there are enemies being spawned everywhere (they dont spawn and stay there, for reasons of lag.) and i am usually not as well equipped as others. one diamond sword, iron swords, and a few arrows, insluding unintended weapons such as gravel, flints, and rarely lava bucket. even on easy the spawn rate is the same, except for less damage taken, and more damage given. even on easy it is easy for creepers to come up after a battle and kill you. also icluding spider-riding skeletons which i have seen and been killed by a few times. seeing dragons that fly around and breathe FIRE is more than i can handle already. i have to stay locked in a mine to survive one night because of them jumping up and shooting me. so if some dragon was camping outside my mines i would be toast... literally. and my defences? well crafterstown ruined. i heard he might add something like a boss. if it has the normal soawn rate i would implode. not forgetting all the hunderds of torches i placed will probably go out killing me.
in short i think in easier modes not only should the damages be different, but the spawn rates. (but not for slimes, i have never seen one and i want to.) so i like the haloween update, but adding disabilities is going to make it harder. i know some people still say "well its called SURVIVAL for a reason!" but some things have to be traded off for reality, as i hear often in valve's dev commentary. it would be like if minecraft had you drink something every now and then to live, or bleeding from falls. its these things that makes the game enjoyable. its realistic, but removes some of the more annoying factors, like hunger. for adventure mode however... GO NUTS! then we dont have as many tasks, and probably more weapons and things! then i will want more enemies.
i hope im not boring you? well anyways happy haloween.
I would like to see more mobs in the game.
However...The exception of this is that as long as the mobs are original character designs. I want to see more monsters that aren't just something unoriginal like Dragons or Orcs. I would personally enjoy to see more mobs like the creeper.
The only problem I foresee with this is that there might be a considerable spike in monster population at night. instead of just having a few zombies and a few creepers plus some spiders, we might have a few zombies+creepers+skeletons+spiders+what ever other mobs there going to be added. the night is going to be a lot less lonely if he doesn't add some way to edit how many mobs can be spawned in one night.
But i am not sure if something like this is already implanted in the game, if it is... disregard my whole rant.
i know some scripting when i see it and in lamens terms, yes. he had to put a value in the game that tells it how many mobs to spawn in X amount of area. that will probably be edited, or the script is that he wont spawn ALL of the enemies. just some.
I agree with the point about combat mechanics. There is still a lot of awkwardness in fighting itself; the key issue (for anyone that has coded fighting games) is always that of hit detection (hit boxes.) IMO, hit detection both ways is very fudgy right now.
i wouldent say the hit box is a great deal, considering that the game anc characters are blocky, but i agree fightin is awkward, especially in mines, but it adds a challenge. like once i was in a cave and i cept hearing zombies and i almost freaked, looking for them, but then i was going to give up an i looked up for ore, and i saw a cave with a narrow entry with a zombie peeping out. in other games, developers can predict where things are, in minecraft... its more unexpected and sometimes funny. (finding a ton of pigs and a creeper looking around sadly.)
I wouldn't mind seeing different classes of enemies as well as some additions to the existing classes.
We have some undead enemies (zombies and skeletons), an exploding enemy (creeper which may or may not be undead), and an agressive creature (spider).
I personally wouldn't mind seeing any of these mobs added in the next halloween update (or any update in the future for that matter):
Undead
-Ghosts (perhaps a random chance of appearing after a player dies fighting another agressive mob and become agressive to everything in the area, might make some people angry though when it happens.)
-Wraiths (combination of ghost and skeleton, although more like a flying skeleton in a robe shooting magic or something)
Land Creatures
-Wolves (more common and much stronger in snow based maps, rarely travels alone and if it does it's already weak/dieing)
-Bears (Generated in ground level caves with low light at any time of the day or night)
Sea Creaturess
-Sharks and any variation of biting creatuers thereof
-Krakens, octopie and squids potentially too (asain pride =)
Avian and Flying Creatures
-Hawks and/or Eagles
-Dragons (I know they are on teh list but I'm saying it anyway)
Humaniods (whom have a tendency to spawn in medium to large groups, which makes the dangerous)
-Goblins and Orc's (3-4 archers shooting at you anyone?)
-Trolls (large and slow moving, but difficult to knock back, has lots of hp, and regenerates said hp rapidly)
Oh oh! And add in a cheat code you can type in at some point that makes the say "Allah hooik bar!" or something for laughs and giggles. Or don't.
maybe a giant golden flaming zombie that stomps around the land shooting a barrage of flaming arrows, immune to sunlight, and can spot you from 2 to 3 chucks away o.O
higher difficulty yields more danger i.e. giant golden(easy)/Iron(normal)/DIAMOND(hard). with each of the lesser also having a chance to spawn in the higher difficulty.
they give 4 blocks of the type they are. gold/iron/diamond etc. and give 2 stacks of flaming arrows.
epic enough?

I don't want a gold star, because gold is useless.
Because then you would need to Build a STRONG house, or maybe a lava moat.
lava golems eatz ur lavaz... now what?
screw lava. just make a giant pit for enemies to plop into. then strick them down in the morning with your arrows of justice. that way u can keep your house, save your lava. and collect drops.

The only monsters that give me trouble are slimes atm. IMO, there should be more varied and difficult monster types added for the normal and hard modes, and then make it so that only less aggressive hostile mobs are in easy.
The problem with combat is that it's on 2 extremes: ridiculously easy (zombies, spiders if you see them coming) then sometimes frustratingly hard (instagibbed by a creeper u didnt see, or you die in like 2 seconds by a fast spider hitting you 4 times from behind and pushing you all over the place)
Worrying about dying makes you never take any risks, which means lots of very boring combat encounters (e.g. building pillars).
I don't really mind if my house is safe. If I want a challenge, I can go exploring a cave. But I could definitely understand the want to try to defend a base against hordes of monsters - it'd be a different game, compared to going to find the monsters yourself though.
Maybe it could be linked to the difficulty settings - "Hard" means that monsters always know where you are, or can see you from a long way away, or smell you, or something. You could have base-attacking monsters too. Currently you have to be really close for them to notice. "Normal" could have a regular aggro range or something.
Off-topic, I'd like a creeper dungeon; So we can have 64 stack of TNT legit-ly.
Lol, that would be a bit OP. And besides just make a decent sized farm and stock up on bread, go out every night and kill every single creeper you see and you should get at least 16-24 Gunpowder each trip. (If you know how to hand-to-hand combat a creeper)
On-Topic... Yea, I think there should be a lot more. And when it becomes night time they should at least try to kill your base to get to you (Insane Mode) Because there's no point in building your house with anything besides sand and dirt if they won't touch it. As a matter of fact whats the point of making a defensive structure anyways if you can just tower yourself with dirt in matter of seconds. So in my honest opinion I think we should have more monster as the game at this point in time is far too easy even on hard mode.
P.S. (If he's adding sharks why not add alligators so they can sneak up behind you and eat you alive while you are fishing?)
You know that if a skeleton accidentally hits a zombie or other mob, they will fight?
this has turned out to get me out of a lot of sticky situations. [>>-i>]
I don't know, I kind of agree that there are enough enemies. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a wimp and when necessary I will put up a fight, but most of the game play in Minecraft should be just that: mining and crafting. For those people who want to fight fight fight all day long, go play another game, or actually find a fight in the game, don't ask for more enemies. I have a outpost in my game that I'm still setting up, and every night it sounds like a dang feeding frenzy outside, and I'm on normal. Maybe all I want is less spawns on lower difficulties, but I really think if anything we just need a bigger variety, not MORE enemies. Or what would be cool is like a city that you can take over. That way if you really want to fight, just be on the lookout for a "goblin city" or somthing and there you go, have fun. You know what I mean?

Actually, Easy still has enemies.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL.
or B i discussed that in the previous massages

For Christ sakes all you have to do is make a pylon and nothing can take you?
All you have to do is build a little wall and your safe?
It's so easy now the fear aspect is not even scary
yea that would be pretty epic
If anything, this game needs more foes than ever!
I can survive a night on the hardest mode using a stone sword, no healing and little to no shelter!
(and i tend to be a fighter)
Its just not right, there needs to be something else to ramp up the difficulty.
and new, tougher monsters would do nicely.
