Like others here, I look forward to the snow biome feature, so I can get snow without the entire map going winter-wonderland on me. I like the snow worlds, and would likely build my base of operations in a snow map, but seeing the whole map covered in the white stuff isn't as nice at all!
EDIT: Also, the rainforests idea is awesome and I want it.
Hopefully deserts will have sand storms which makes it hard to see. Like your house could be right in the middle of one when your looking out your window and all you see is sand.... when suddenly a creeper appearssssssss

Now that sounds awesome! Sandstorms can be implemented like they were in Morrowind. The sand storm is directional and if you try to move against it you have to move real slow and put your hand in front of your face :tongue.gif:
I am hoping to see the biomes we already know about... that means...
desert
snow
green hills
floating islands
I would be pleasantly surprised if we see any new biomes in addition to this. I however would be quite happy with this short list of biomes we have already seen examples of. Note, I don't really classify hell as a biome, it is actually reserved for the portal world and shouldn't be part of the landscape on the main world.
Also, I would really love seeing the transition from anything to floating islands. Imagine enormous cliffs reaching straight down into the void. Lava and water both flowing freely down the sides of the cliff. Looking out across the open air you see islands floating majestically beyond the cliffs.
And if I have to pick only one, I pick floating islands because they sound the most fun. :wink.gif:
Mid-eastern Desert (lots of yellow sand, palms, scarab or mummy mobs, random pyramids from yellow sandstone?)
Southwestern US Desert (red sandstone, cacti, rattlesnakes and coyotes for mobs. Lots of canyons)
Forest (with trees we have now)
Alpine forest or Northwestern Rainforest (with towering redwoods and ferns)
Swamps
Floating islands
Volcanic
Islands
Plains
Green Hills
Blighted (gray grass, poison pools, lots of undead, perhaps dead or dead-looking trees, maybe even ruins)
Mountains
Snowy/Tundra
Coral Reef
Someone else mentioned a Jungle Biome I really like that idea best. I chose island cause it was the closest option I think.
Edit:
LOL crap didn't see rainforest now the whole poll is ruined lets restart :wink.gif: Islands would be cool to I guess.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"I love how supporters of finite torches say they want a more challanging game and then in later threads talk about using peaceful mode when building."
I hope weather is considered part of biomes. It would be nice to have an occasional rain storm in the "normal" areas. No rain in deserts, almost constant rain in swamps. snow in the cold northern areas, snow on very tall mountain peaks.
Storms of Flaming Dogs falling from the sky in Hell (ok, too much Oblivion in that one)
We already have the island Biome. Get on your boat and take out out into the ocean. YOu will find some small islands and even some large ones. We also kind of already have mountains. Finally you can also find small floating islands if you get lucky with your map generator. Nothing that big thought. Thought I am mainly looking forward to plains/deserts.
Also where is swamp/bog biome on that list!?! Green icky water, trees that grow in the water, lots of mushrooms with snakes and spiders. Here is the list of "Bioms". Which in truth, in Minecraft I would call them "terrain types".
Forest
Jungle
sand desert
rock desert
plains
Tundra (snow/ice desert)
Ice sheet (a desert of pure ice)
Hills (What most of minecraft is made up of)
Mountains (also what most of minecraft is made up of)
High Mountains (mountains with snow on top. can't due to sky limit?)
Wetlands.
With the update, we will have deserts and plains. Maybe even better forests then we do now.
What I would really like to see is some underwater life. Then I would have a reason to build my submarine base and explore the depths. It would be awesome.
I would actually welcome a really rare candyland biome. of course it would be very small, and no monsters could spawn there. candycanes would grow like trees and we can only grow them in snowy places. We can eat them or use them like sticks.
i'd love a rain forrest with a new creation that allowed me to place a wood bridge....i'd love to make tree forts and run into amazon javelin throwers and lions.
Candy Land would be cool as some sort of like "Easter Egg" like if you travel 50000 blocks from spawn you find a portal to "Candy Land" full of wonderful treats that replenish all 10 hearts!!! and there stackable!!! and they come in bulk!!! Now, that would be awesome.
EDIT: Also, the rainforests idea is awesome and I want it.
Epic base=Mountain
Cool outpost=Desert
Bungee Jumping=Floating island
Trap land=Forest
Everything else=Everywhere else

Lava instead of water? HELL YES! (pun intended)
or maybe like

equals diabetes, then you would lose 1hp every second and die

I think floating islands should be a secondary biome though, meaning there would be desert floating islands, forest floating islands, etc.
