I'm wondering whether he simply means the light level of a block needs to be higher to prevent spawns or if in addition to that we'll get more enemies total spawning at a faster rate and in closer proximity to the player. I'm going to guess that at least one of the new mobs will only show up past a certain depth much like slimes only more dangerous and not so rare.
Well, what it boils down to I think is that the deeper you want your base/mine/minecart track, the more lanterns you'll have to stockpile and place in order to ensure monsters don't spawn. adds a challenge to diamond mining.
I feel it is going to be a fun addition. As it is right now, I dig straight under my feet to the lowest levels, with ladders to get back up the shaft as needed, and burrow around in the richest mining zone with just a few torches after the best minerals.
It will be nice to have to be more cautious and prepare for such delving, with both the depths having more monsters likely and having to prepare with lanterns. I'm looking forward to the increased creepy scary factor. :smile.gif:
