Last night I was on minecraft, and juggling time while traveling to my main base from my far away mob spawner-in-progress. Atm, it spawns a lot of mobs, and my 2nd station is not yet secured so creepers often... creep in (actually got hit by one while clearing a duck out of my engine room. backup saves ftw).
Anyway, I was down in my storage room and thought damn I need to make a 1x1 hole skylight so I can tell if enough time has passed to go back to the surface. It's a 30s minecart ride, 20s to get to the boat, then like another minute riding the boat. Then I thought, hey a ingame clock would be so awesome and useful.
Today I looked at notches blog, and jumped with joy, cant wait for my watch :biggrin.gif:
I thought that they show only the time when it is safe to go surface?
That being the daytime when monsters don't spawn on the surface. Whichever way you paint it, it will be an indicator of day/night even when you can't see the sky.
Makes the most sense to me. There's no real use for gold right now other than perhaps just to make some shiny blocks to show off. Gold watches would be cool.
My biggest worry is that now I'm going to have one more tool to fight for space on my hotkey bar. *sigh*

Yeah like that, which gives me an idea..... the watch absorbs water, AND THEN IF YOU START ON FIRE YOU CAN SQUEEZE IT TO PUT YOURSELF OUT! Don't ask me how what you said let me to that idea. I just want sponge watch.
I have a feeling it will require gold. Maybe like a compass, but with gold instead of iron?

With being redstone dust, of course.
Admittedly, I don't want it to require gold, but I fear it will!
Rolex watches in MineCraft? Now I can act rich in SMP.
I hope it doesn't take up to much iron, anyways. And if it does take Iron, hopefully it lasts forever.
A diamond lasts forever...

I would like a blueprint for that.
Even if watches gave accurate time, I would like a clock tower.
As for time...
Those clocks must move quite fast. Although while staring at it they might seem as though they're moving slow.
Pocket watches or no, that would still be awesome

A simple night and day watch:
Am excited to see what Notch comes up with.
A diamond lasts forever...
This is exactly what I was thinking of earlier. Thanks for giving a not sucky visual like I did :biggrin.gif:
I don't know if it will use diamond or obsidian though. I think it should use more than 2 pieces of gold.
