I like the idea that if hell was far enough down on the map so that Hell would replace the void at the bottom of the map, though it could kill peoples CPU and RAM having to load two seperate maps stacked ontop of each other
I'm sure if that can happen if there's a 1:10 or greater ratio on the distances between each world.
I just wonder if every point in the hell world is linked to the real world, we'll obviously need to create land-marks in hell so we can find our-way home easily, i just wonder what would happen if you went underground...
You'd be all Terminator and melt everything surrounding you the moment you warp in. That would be cool, until someone does it in your home.
I've noticed a similarity between Minecraft and DF - that if you dig down deep enough you'll eventually reach "the void" in MC and "Erie glowing pits" in DF. Eventually hell took over that element in DF- so I think that Notch will take a que from DF and link these holes at the bottom of the map to the "hell world"
1.There will be lots of fire and magma...
2.but all light sources will be reduced dramatically to keep the dark feel
3.Magma will be a big incentive to go to hell
4.Minerals will be more common (similar to deep underground)
5.Portals will be paired
6.Portal in real world will be centered in the corresponding 10 x 10 area
7.Portals will vary in size, but matched pairs will be equal
8.Large portals let out bigger demons and dragons
9.Demons can access portals and spawn commonly in hell
10.There will be a day night cycle but the blood red sun only raises more demons
11.You can build and live in hell but it is dangerous
12.Monsters can spawn ANYWHERE in hell, lighted or not
Number 12 would be annoying unless you made persistant traps
Perhaps pathways built like so
to wash monsters off to the right?
Also first thing i do when i get to hell is build a snow fort!!!
I remember seeing a youtube of a diamond TNT cannon.
It would propel any item at preposterous speeds while it changed into a dropped item.
Animals would collide with mountains before disappearing into smoke and tnt blocks would be shot at mountain sides miles and miles away.
Lure hell mobs near your portal where, on the other side, this canon is being reloaded...
Probably what I'm most excited about, really, just for the cool factor of it. You can bet it'll be like the hell mode in the indev version: (by the way, we need some spooky music for hell, dammit!)
What I'm curious about is exactly how the portals will be created (natural/artificial) and how would the topography of hell be related to the topography of the normal world, if they were to be related at all.

Then I am going to build a house with an orchard on the roof and a nice view of the pit of eternal suffering.
