Lately Minecraft has been getting a little boring for me. I don't know why. Theres only so much you can do until your kinda like "Ehh". I also don't see the point for The Nether. Theres no real goal for it, I usually stay there for like 5 minuets until I go back. Theres no new ores, the enemies are fairly easy expect for the pain in the ass Ghast, etc. I know Notch is bringing out new updates and all that but for now, I don't see the reason for playing it. Around 3 days ago I started using Invedit which has made it pretty fun now. I don't know, I know this seems kinda like a rant or most of you call it "Trolling" but I'm just having mixed emotions about Minecraft, anyone feel me?
Also this is my first post on here, just throwin it out there eheh. Any way, good day and Happy Holidays =]
*Edit* I know theres new ores in The Nether, the Bloodstone and The Gold Dust or w/e but they don't seem really useful imo,
Yeah, I get to a point where I just don't play for a bit. Get bored with mining, get bored with fighting and building mob traps. So I stop for a day or two, and in the meantime, think of something I want to do or try out. Just starting to get into mine carts and tracks and stuff. Finally hooking my doors up to pressure plates, switches and redstone to make them open automatically. Then there's mods, I have a few, but there are so many that make the game so different, I can't see getting bored much anytime soon. Then there's the beta update next week, who knows, maybe Notch will surprise us with something.....
Then, if I'm still bored, I go outside in the real world and do something..... come back refreshed and ready to mine again. That's just in one world map, I have yet to do anything serious in more than one world, so I can always start fresh in another.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
Do what I do. Make a list in Notepad and keep adding ideas you want to build. When you're finished with one, look for another that you can start on the easiest.
My current list is this:
Hollow a mountain
Build a boat dispenser
Build a minecart dispenser
Build a snow castle (Can't do until snow returns, there is only one snow biome in my world so far)
Build a good looking cobble castle
Go to the nether
Build a biodome
Get my finished Colosseum linked up to redstone so I can pull a switch to open doors to unlit rooms, releasing mobs
Turn an island into a fiery hell hole
I have a friend who stopped playing after a week because there was "nothing to do". I've been playing for months now and I am continually conceiving projects that will take me months to complete.
Interest in the game is essentially limited by your own imagination.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Exactly. The game is a sandbox, and everyone gets slightly bored now and again. But if you keep coming up with things to build/create/do, then the possibilities of the game are endless.
I've also recently gotten into SMP, which I recommend to anyone looking to expand their Minecraft experience.

What do you mean by "do SMP"? Do you want to set up your own server? Join an existing one? Joining one is very simple, just look around the SMP server section of the Forum and apply to a server that interests you. Setting one up however is not an easy task.

i can see how minecraft would get boring for some people. In these "make your own adventure" kind of games, if you don't have projects you end up wandering aimlessly. With nothing to do, I personally just see myself as a settler in minecraft. i build a city or have a certain project, once I'm done building it I pick up a sword, bow, some food, torches and some tools and go out exploring until i find a new inspiring land and start a new settlement there.
I then connect my previous settlement with my new one with a road and then move on. Sometimes you get an idea for a building that would fit well in a previous settlement so you end up going back and building some more. It becomes a lot of fun and you never get bored. :smile.gif:
If SMP isnt your cup of tea, get into the modding community and check out their stuff. I felt the same way a while back but once i got into mods it was kinda a jump start and brought the game a whole lot of life and variety to the game. [you know, that thing notch will never acomplish]
Heres a link for an example of the wonders of the mods already out there, Hope this makes things a bit more enjoyable for yall.

Do you know how to do SMP, cause I dont =/
It also helps some if you know the people on the server a bit, and if there isn't a huge amount of turn-over either.
And you was wounded in the war
And though you shot some people down
You're still a good man Albert Brown

I think you answered your own question.
Click Multiplayer from the main menu, and then enter the IP and port of a server:
xx.xx.xx.xxx:yyyyy
x = IP, y = port (probably gonna be Minecraft's default port, 25565).
From there, enjoy the experience of Minecraft with hundreds of other people. It's singleplayer x 2.
