Tunneling raiders. They will hide under your base and plant tnt, then TROLOLOOLOL and blow it up. Introducing, the anti troll device! Simply place under your base, as well as 2 layers of Lava . Now, he will have a nasty suprise waiting for him! :biggrin.gif: Still doesnt stop him from blowing hte wall open though... oh well.
Buckets can't collect flowing water, and so if the springs are positioned higher up they are harder to stop.
lol... god.. robbing you people is just going to be TOO easy.
It doesn't take much effort to build a 10-20 bricks high pillar of dirt or sand and bucket up your water spring(s).
You have 3 options:
1.) Hide your stuff, and hide it WELL.
2.) Put all your valuables on your person before you log out.
3.) Kiss your loot goodbye, because it's been robbed.
I miagine some silly people would establish banks with 24/7 protection, even sillier people would actually store their stuff there, and smart people would rob them.
I plan to have quite an elaborate hiding spot for all my loot. I will eventually make a dungeon with a prize at the end. Hopefully people will go on the honor system and try to complete the dungeon's challenges without cheating.
Best place to hide your crap? what is the one thing you hate getting a ton of? dirt. I hate mining this crap, and i usually chuck it out, as i already have enough, so i say bury your treasure under pointless dirt.
I dont understand anyone that makes traps or anything, besides just blowing it all up, couldn't you just set off the trap, die, then come right back? There is almost no negative to dying in this game.
Seraph, short of knocking down the walls, please explain to me how you would defeat a lava spring undernearth a house.
It covers everything under the house, for this purpose let's assume the house is a 5x5 wooden box thing like indev was.

The middle lava is the spring. How can you bypass it without being burnt?
Now imagine the lava gap on the left side of this much wider across, fueled by springs you cannot reach from shore, as well as the upper lava blocks inside the bottom of the wall. If you use water; you'll be stuck mining your way in, which, (as well as TNT,) will reawaken the lava springs. Causing either you to use a water, (you're remaking my wall! Yay!) or get burnt to death.
Bridging wouldn't work because I'd use a hybrid wall. (don't have enough images or time to make on here,)

I miagine some silly people would establish banks with 24/7 protection, even sillier people would actually store their stuff there, and smart people would rob them.
And Even smarter people would be running the banks, stealing from their customers and them telling them that the bank was blown up by bandits and that the bank had to be rebuilt.
Well, that's what large corporations already do in real life. I think that SMP's economics are going to be a lot like real life's, with whomever has the most resources always being on top. Granted, there will be a lot more killing involved.
I will have my base normal, No traps no defences. But when someone blows it up or steals from it. I will go working non stop until I get some good resources like diamonds and iron again, and then hire Bounty Hunters to make the theives life hell.
Not to different from me, im not going to go out of my way to hid my stuff, just the common sense things like building underground and the such. But when someone crosses me i plan on chasing them to the ends of the earth to make sure they know not to do it again.

Water also generates more of itself, so if there are enough springs, your buckets won't do ****.

Put a dirt block over the lava spring then dig out the dirt block.
Uhm, bucket of water?

Wow, I didn't think of that. LOL.
