I've done some "research" (viewtopic.php?f=1016&t=72362), though I don't think it's the same as the purpose of this thread.
Another thing you can add is that ghasts cannot destroy cobble, mossy cobble, smooth stone, obsidian, iron(?), and diamond(?) blocks. I also believe that 1 diamond sword hit will kill a ghast, though I'm not absolutely sure.
Contrary to popular belief, ghasts are NOT fireproof. I haven't tried flaming arrows yet, but they can catch on fire. They stay flaming for just a couple seconds though, but they do flash red, but the flame doesn't kill them. After they are on fire it takes one hit with an arrow to kill them. If a ghast somehow wanders into lava (I've only seen it once... might be a glitch, but I'm not sure) it's insantaneous death for the ghast.
Stood still for 30 minutes... Not a joke! Was not hit by one, had about 6 ghasts above be firing down. Their accuracy is shocking, if you are jumping or moving around, they are more likely to hit you than if you stand still.
Oh, heh, I forgot about this thread... I've been noticing some more things about ghasts though.
1) Their hitbox (and thus collision-box) starts at their "tentacles" and ends at their MOUTH, not the top of their head.
2) I'm assuming that ghasts can only destroy hell-native blocks. I had a wood floor in a house I was building, and it took a hit from a fireball, and didn't break. It DID, however, burn.
That's all I have for now. I'll mess around with the second point to see if I'm right.
I like to think that the ghasts are more tempted to float down into the lava pools the lower you are to the ground.
My first portal set me 20 blocks under a lava like, and all I could hear was their agonized screams. And when I built myself up high in the air they stopped doing it.
Though as soon as I was walking around on the ground level in the open I could watch them float down them into it and die.
Ghasts need to be programmed to avoid the lavafalls and the lakes, imo.

Agreed. If you just sit in the middle of a lava field and build a little obsidian base you can look out the windows and just see all the ghasts falling into the lava.
Water evaporates on contact with the atmosphere of the Nether, so the only way to find out how Ghasts react to water is to let one spawn in the overworld.
Has anyone managed to jump on a ghast to see if they are ride-on-able yet? Cuz that would be AWESOME.

The thread in my signature shows videos of ghasts in water and me trying to ride a ghast.
1) Takes 3 arrows to kill them (Assuming they were at full health the few times I've killed 'em)
2) Their fireballs are redirected where the CROSSHAIR is when they are smacked
* For bows, this is where the crosshair was when the arrow was fired
3) The few times I've gotten hit with their fireballs, I've taken only 1/2 heart of damage
I'm doing more research, and I'll try to update this thread when I find something new.
@Mods - If this is a duplicate thread, feel free to lock, but please post a link to the original thread so I can direct my information there.

BTW.. That Ghast gone killed my Hell Tree!

But actually getting them on a fishing rod is nearly impossible.

How do ghasts react to water btw?

Also, I am SO disappointed that the tops of Ghasts aren't solid
Nice 26 day thread necro.
