I've played alot of games that defy gravity, using magic as a means of supernatural activity.
When you enter a Floating Island Biome, it will most likely segue into a giant bottomless crater where land is supposed to be, and above it are Perpetually suspended Islands in the air.
This isn't as stupid as it sounds, and it would make sense, because this would...
A) Segue smoothly into the biome without looking forced and...
:cool.gif: Would allow Notch to create floating islands without having to bump up the vertical limits.
Floating islands should be just hovering above nearly sea-level plains. That way mountain folk and floating island folk can send each other funny gestures while the ground-level people are kept in the dark and totally not invited to any of their parties. Duh.

Poor ground-level folks... They'll just have to have their own parties and invite only and cave folk.
Well, unless the floating islands will be gigantic, and have caves and spawners, I think they would defeat some of the purpose in the game (killing monsters). It would, although, be pretty cool for them to be added.

Presumably, Floating Islands will be like the ones that were in InDev, so yes, they will have caves, and possibly dungeons on them.
I've seen floating islands in the game already, I don't see the need to make them more complicated. At best I would like to see some spawn over the ocean as well.

They're not even big enough to support a shack 85% of the time, and mostly almost always 1x1 floating blocks.

Floating islands arn't supposed to be generated and thus are pretty rare. I've been hunting for some time now and no luck. and having em float above land a water sounds better. and it would give an excuse to highten the map limit

Anybody agree with this method?

The floating island grass isn't any different then the rest;
They'll spawn without any kind of tweaking.
The only thing Notch needs to do is make floating islands happen on purpose and a larger chance of them being big.
In that case, if they're big, then caves and dungeons will happen naturally.
It's rather easy.
