Being physically active is obviously pretty important. There are many reasons to be fit. It can help you in so many aspects of your life. I realized this a year and a half ago and bought myself a gym pass. I have gone to the gym religiously 4 times a week since then and have recently started a diet, and I have never felt better in my life.
So how many of you are physically active? Feel free to post stories or questions you have.
Does walking around a college campus count as being physically active? I'm guessing no...but hey, at least next quarter I'm taking beginner golf even though I did golf since the age of four until I was 15 or so.
No where near where I want to be though, I have joint problems that deter me from running and such. Along with that I'm not a good self motivator; exercising is sporadic and limited for me. The majority of my exercise come from fishing, kayaking, and working.
I just recently started doing little bits of sit-ups and such here and there, Until i have something else to work out with i'm just gonna do those to burn calories.
I currently go to the gym. I started 1/2 a year ago and haven't felt better in my life. I have lost a lot of fat and gain a good amount of muscle. I feel like I have gained more energy, I'm more active.
Here is a sort of before and after shot (although the before shot is from about 1 year ago)
I still have some fat to lose, mainly around the stomach region, but you just gota keep at it!

A lot of people think that because sit-ups workout your abs that they will burn a lot of belly fat, but this isn't true. You would have to do over 10,000 sit-ups to burn a single pound of fat! Cardio or HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training, or crossfits basically) are much better ways to burn calories.
Also, bump. Good stuff so far, but I would like to hear more.
Track and field and cross country. Plus I do pushups on my own time and will be doing weight training next year. I am no where near where I want to be though. I run a 6:21 mile, I want it under 5:45, I can bench 100 lbs, I want to do 135, my 100 meter sprint is somewhere in the 14 second range, I want it in the low 13s(I don't sprint in track, don't worry), and my 5k time is 23:18, I want it under 19 minutes. But I am decently physically fit, I definitely don't have any extra fat on me.
Okay hold on.
Wednesday night and Friday night training: 90-105 minutes running each
Sunday game: 80 minute game (involves waaaaaay more running)
Plus other general walking and running around and whatnot.
So yeah. I'm fit. And I stay that way.
I am quite fit, I work out about two-two-and-a-half hours a day (resting period is the weekend), less now (Like and hour-and-a-half) since it's nearing the end of the school year. I don't do much strength training, because my lifts are already above average for my weight/age, but I am a cardio/conditioning freak. I have a healthy resting heart rate between 50-60 usually at 55, I have a 7-8 minute mile, I can do heavy bag work at a constant pace for an hour. I am usually at 4-6% body fat, partly because I am basically vegan so there's less fat (mother has fat and cholesterol problems, so that's why she is vegan, so I am by consequence) plus an amazing metabolism.

Is that your ORM at 100 or a ten rep?
I max at 100.(shitty I know)
Lol sorry but you aren't good at cardio if your mile time is that bad.
You should just eat properly and not spend all day on the couch. Don't go to the gym though, you're still going to get old and die(I'm sure you'll look great in the coffin though)

I have bad knees (some rare arthritis that is caused by my CVID if I remember correctly...). I like low impact better.
Oh ok.

I should have also said I have asthma as well, running seems to be the only thing that causes me to have troubles these days.
