Opinions, is it possible we are alone in this universe? There's thousands, millions, billions of galaxies possibly, each with millions, billions of stars in them? It actually boggles my mind to think that anyone can believe we are completely alone, the only life in the entire universe. It is much easier to say we are the only life in the galaxy, sure, but the entire universe? No way in hell.
Not to sound cliche, but if we do get invaded by an alien race for whatever reason, could we really stand a chance? Could we actually fight them off with our firearms? Sure, humans can be stubborn and hard to completely wipe out, but what are the odds we could stand against an alien race that can traverse the stars and manage to at least fight them off? They could have any weapons, far beyond what we could imagine, something that makes our most advanced weapons and machines look like flint arrowheads and stones tied to sticks.
Contrary to popular belief, I think aliens are most likely going to be barbarians, why do you think we haven't been invaded yet?
The distance in space(Who knows what technology they have).
They could also be non-violent, but not wanting to cause an uproar. Otherwise I would agree with this.
Because interstellar travel doesn't appear to be feasible and because there's likely a ridiculously large amount of space between civilizations that would be sufficiently advanced to even be able to make such a journey.

Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence.

we have not been in invaded (or even in contact) with aliens because
A. the universe is a BIG place
B. life might be rare, not sure yet because we have not done enough exploring to draw conclusions
C. even if it was not rare the universe is a BIG place
D. there are plenty of other sources of materials without having to deal with pesky natives.
E. Prime directive (AKA, let lesser lifeforms develop on their own without any interference from higher lifeforms)

The universe is a really, REALLY, REALLY big place. For there to be no other life would be unlikely.

Remember, Off-Topic is where you post every mundane, uninteresting thing about your life for everyone to cherish and enjoy.
I'm also a compulsive liar.
Because, things are thousands of light years away, thats thousands of years away, traveling at the speed of light, we would have to travel faster than the speed of light to actually go anywhere in the universe, but, it's proven that NOTHING can travel faster than the speed of light.
Also, why do aliens ALWAYS invade us? There are no peaceful aliens? Also, why do they send foot soldiers? If they want to wipe us out, bomb the planet, or send a virus they are immune to that we aren't, it's so obviously easy to kill our race if you are super advanced, but, really, are aliens that stupid?
And I don't think we are alone, but I doubt they ever come to earth.

Nothing has been proven so far. Not to say we need true FTL to go places, there are workarounds. Theoretical workarounds.

;'''
interstellar travel is nearly impossible
without sunlight for miles we would die
Because our shitty existance provides entertainment to our alien overlords?
All hail the alien overlords!

Why isn't it feasable?
I'm also a compulsive liar.
The amount of time and energy required to cross the vast distances of space is a seemingly-insurmountable obstacle.
so was the ocean at one point.

Because humans have yet to find a good way to travel in space, so we draw our conclusions based on that usually. That is how humans tend to think.
How so?
