and the pillars of creation. Ya know what is sad about this? The pillars of creation were destroyed by a supernova. We will only see it on earth for about another thousand years, but we will never see it in person.
ok, they are not the most beautiful sight in the world, because they are not on this world.
Also, that bismuth stuff is pretty cool; I almost bought a chunk of some, once, but I decided not to because it's kind of a pay-to-play operation with it having a half life. In about twenty quintillion years, you already lost half of what you payed for. Total con.
The most beautiful thing I've ever seen was up in Whistler, Canada. A pure white virgin powder bowl in low visibility. There was no point of reference, I couldn't tell up from down, left from right. All I could do was float on the surface of a few feet of fine powder snow, making broad sweeping turns. It was steep, but the powder slowed me to a comfortable cruising speed. If there is an afterlife, I hope it's like that.

If that is not beauty I don't know what is. It literally encompasses every beauty on Earth, and makes us realise how fragile it is, and how hostile it's surroundings are. I believe that that picture could save us from ourselves.
Well done to you too!
Also, slightly off topic, do any of you know who Professor Brian Cox is?
Well, if I was an alien intern looking through photos at an observatory, I wouldn't have seen that planet and all of the history and emotion attached to it.

That would be the Pale Blue Dot, a photo of Earth from the outer fringes of the Solar System, taken by the Voyager 1 spacecraft.
This is n excerpt from Carl Sagans excellent book from which the picture got it's name, Pale Blue Dot.
It's read by him.
