Y'know, a big problem many kids have is persuading their parents to get them to these places.
Canada - easy for the US users, quite difficult for everyone else.
Australia - Unless you're an Aussie, no chance.
Tokyo - Really? That's really pushing it.
Remember, a lot of young people go to Minecon, and they make up a large proportion of its fanbase. I'm a teen, and I can't go to the French one because it's a weekend, which is another problem. Minecon is usually a weekend, and you have to be pretty hardcore if you fly to Japan for a weekend trip, and that's without factoring in cost. So, maybe a more accessible area is needed.
Completely agree. I was in japan last summer and it was about 1500(usd) grand. Since a family friend works for delta we got free tickets. Japan is one of the gaming land-marks but high population and low space. There should be a place were kids 10-13 can actully go to. Australia is just a bit too much. Japan I could sort-a see happen. Canada I could also see happen. Vegas is a vote.
I think that having a minecon in california or NY would be good because lots of minecraft players live in big cities like new york city, LA, and other places. Mojang should think of having minecon near lots of minecraft players since most kids, like cruncheon said, really need to ask their parents to go to minecons.
Hmm Have to admit Australia would be such a cool place to hold it but....
I will wet myself if they hold it in Japan!,
So Jealous of everyone at Disneyland Paris today !! <3
OK. We all want it to be in Toronto or Vancouver or wherever, but what about the date. Of course it's going to be in 2013, but what month? What day?. November will be hard because children around the world might not be able to come because of school. It will be a waste of money just to skip a few days of school, go to minecon, and catch up on all the work you have to do. I'd like it to be during the Winter or Summer in Canada or Australia. Somewhere and someday that is worth spending money on.
In my opinion. Minecon 2013 should be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. First of all if it is in Canada which makes it easy for me and many others to get to. Second, I agree that canada is a great place because most minecraft players know english and Canada is English and french. then, Many minectcraft play in the USA so toronto would be a very close place for them to drive to (from Niagra Falls to Toronto-2 hours). I agree to all of the factors that you have stated. I really hope Minecon 203 will be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada!
I really agree with you! Also, it is super easy to get into Canada for basically everyone!

Mmm.. Having it in the U.S. (which I do live in, so it isn't something bad for me) would keep a lot of people from being able to come, only for the fact that it is so annoying for a lot of people to come into the States due to whom they are and if they have a visa, or passport that will allow them to get into the states o.o
Hmm Have to admit Australia would be such a cool place to hold it but....

How would you know if it is too cold? o.o It is colder in some areas compared to others, and plus we don't even have a date yet, so saying it will be too cold is like saying it will snow in the middle of march next year. (meaning, there is a possibility but no one knows for sure yet.)

Hmm... We should start deciding on a date. I'd say it should be at least 6 months from the current one.
Not to shaft the Aussies but Australia is reeeeeally far away from well everywhere save for New Zealand and some parts of South Asia/Oceania...add on the factor that Australia is one of the most expensive places to travel to (And to live-I've lived there!) As well it's well known Minecrafts users are more often than not from North America. I voted for Toronto (not just because it's 2 hours from where I live) but because of it's accessibility to more fans! Many Americans could easily go to Toronto rather than Sydney or Tokyo (though they'd be awesome to go to)...another thing is that even UK and Western European gamers can make the trip, if minecon is placed at the right time of year getting flights can be pretty cheep (Like during march when everyone goes south or in winter months) Toronto has two really good venues possible for cons; the Metro Toronto Convention Center (FanExpo Canada held there) or even the smaller Toronto Congress Center + adjoining hotels (Anime North held there- also this is right by the Toronto airport and lots of hotels, during Anime North the hotels always have 'convention pricing' too) as well.
Canada - Toronto is very close to the border of the United States meaning that a lot of people from both Canada and the United States can have a chance to go, and it's still not very far away for people from Japan.
In conclusion, Toronto, Ontario, Canada would be a very ideal location for Minecon 2013 because it is near the United states, allowing at least 2 countries to experience a Minecon, Toronto, Ontario is very dense with the Minecraft population, and Canada has a very organized transportation.
Vancouver, British Columbia is even closer to the United States border. We drive over to buy gas and eggs!
Vancouver is my hometown and it seems to me that everybody is playing Minecraft. I once flew to Toronto directly from Vancouver and some passengers were playing PE while we taxied!
It would be pretty awesome if Minecon 2013 were held at BC Place. BC Place is a big place with lots of room to set up booths and a stage!
IMHO Vancouver is the best place to hold Minecon 2013. Close to the border, lots of people playing Minecraft, and a multicultural population. We have a relatively good computer-drivin transit system too.
I voted for canada, Mostly because I live in canada It's easy for most canadian's and america's Notch is trying to get the most population to go to the place and North america is 3x Bigger then austrialia
I'd say that it should be held in Chicago. This is ideal because it is in America and easy to get to from Canada. Milwaukee wouldn't be a bad idea either. Europeans can have a chance to come, whereas Australia is nowhere near it. Holding it so far from the areas where Minecraft fans are at large is a mistake in my opinion. Chicago is a bit on the northern side of America, so that's great that Canadians can come to it. Same with Milwaukee, its farther north, but its city is a bit smaller. These two places are fairly located for a Minecon. But of the three, I'd have to say Toronto. Again, most Minecraft fans come from North America and Europe, so this place is easily accesible from northern America and still reachable from Europe. I understand why some of you would want Australia because you live there, but it isn't easily accessible from the large areas of Minecraft fans.
I think that the best place to have minecon on is Europe, although it was in Paris this year, it is very central and not so expencive to travel.
Australia is a very expencive travel route, and for people in us and europe it would cost very much. But i think there would be nice to have minecon in Australia one year too, so they could experience how fun it is!
Toronto. Most (I think) players live in the USA. Also, if you live northern USA, (like me) it would cost less for people to fly there(or drive), same with players down south. Also, it wouldn't be so crowded like tokyo. So, Toronto.
Oh BTW, I think the best time to hold Minecon would be either in the summer or winter when there is NO SCHOOL. That way people around the world can go to Minecon. It'll be worth spending money for.

It is in France right now, they are far to close to eachother to host next.

Keep calm and carry on!
Dlljs.
