Snow capped mountain is cool. Just make clouds higher, it like you build something high up in the air and the cloud still pass through and you still don't care. The two new biome seems great, cubic chunks and more realistic ore veins would be nice like a biome or area have a high concentration of ores in LARGE amounts.(like a deposit)
I like the large empty oceans. Great for mob testing
While the ocean should be vast and seem empty, I think they should add a whole ecosystem under water complete with fish mob or two, and add some underwater plants. I also think the fishing mechanic should be optimized for catching a physical mob that puts up a small fight. I don't know, those are just my thoughts. They could also add scuba gear, but that seems more along the lines of a mod.
This could be a very good update if executed correctly, I'm alittle skeptical about the Cliffs and Redwood Forest main because like Jungles they could start off as a great idea but in 2 weeks people complain (including me) about extremely low FPS
I also would like the removal of the X-hills, and replace that technical biome with a problebilty system for example Extreme hills have a 100% chance of spawning mountain while plains only have a 5% chance, mountians shouldn't be limited to a few biomes
The Clay biome could be good if it behaves similar to Extreme Hills
They should also work on caves, currently caves are kinda boring and way too common, they can still generate enough ore for even multiplayer though finding ores and abandond mineshafts easly is boring
I'm glad they re-added the Temp/Humidity biome placement is back
Finnaly Ocean and Vilages improvements
Overall I can't give 1.7 a rating yet untill a few snapshots are released but currently its a 7/10
1.0: 7/10-
Was a good update with the adventure additions and optimizations but still had some annoying glitches
1.1: 8/10-
Return of snow and some nice additions was nice, and beaches was good at first (untill most people realized the hilly style beachs was a bad idea) ofcouse theres finnaly the dreaded ladder change that only nova liked
1.2: 7.5/10-
Jungle was good at first untill a week in when people begin to complain about mass lag and constanly spawning in the jungle, other additions were fine
1.3: 7.5/10-
SSP/SMP merger was a good idea but wasnt implemented in the right way, other additions and optimizations were fine
1.4: 8.5/10-
For a scary update it wasn't all that scary but additions were fine, was a very good update in a while
1.5: 8/10-
Personally i would of perfer for 1.5 to stay as a redstone update but additions were fine, however optimazations weren't noticable
1.6: 8.5/10-
A simple update makes a good update, not much to say how ever we still want a crafting recipe for saddles
I don't want anymore updates. They make modding harder and mods take longer to update. Also the start-up is getting harder
No more updates= bugs won't be fixed, it will become EXTREMELY BORING, Usually mod makers will add a some stuff when they update to the main version so updates are actually a good thing.

Jeb is the one doing all the world generator changes, actually.

Play on survival with large biomes and you will quickly see why oceans need something in them.

When they finish coding it. They haven't even released snapshots yet, let alone released an estimated date of release.

Probably only when Extreme Hills or any biome that is higher than the water level reaches a big enough river or an ocean. Think logically.
Tell them I said they were idiots.
