Today Dinnerbone has tweeted about having pufferfish being brewed into waterbreathing potions. I think that the pufferfish is part of the new fishing mechanic where you can fish different kinds of items. Dinnerbone also tweeted that eating them directly is poisonous.
So what do you think about this? Should it be changed? Should it be removed?
I'm not sure if I'd want a pufferfish mob or not... I'd love more mobs, but it'll be difficult for Dinnerbone to flesh this one out. If he can pull it off, I'd love it, but if he can't, I'd rather it just be a drop.
I'd love to see fish in vanilla, but as it will most likely be one of the "fish" Dinerbone mentioned fishing up that's fine by me. If he adds five "varieties" of fish but only one or two have an additional use, other than food, it's still add (positively) to the game.
Aside from being eaten, Pufferfish aren't deadly are they? Why would they be a mob?
Pretty sure if you come into contact with the spines you can be poisoned. But who said they'd be hostile? Seems to me they'd be more neutral, like zombie pigmen.

Nope. Puffers are generally poisonous, depending upon their diet, however, they are not venomous. The difference? Some internal organs, the muscles and the skin usually carry tetrodotoxin, which several kinds of fish are immune to, however, it is highly toxic to humans. Their spikes have no venom, nor venom delivery system - they can't use the tetrodotoxin as a snake uses its venom. As an aside, fugu is the name for puffer flesh in Japan, and in order to be licensed to prepare and cook it, a chef has to learn from a master, and be licensed. Every now and then, someone makes a bad fugu preparation . . . ..

My introduction to Minecraft:BOOM!!*I'm deader than a door nail.* (Me) What the heck was that? (My son, laughing) It's a mob that will explode and kill you! (Me) Gee. Thanks for the warning.
Just over an hour after that tweet, we have a topic calling into question whether the design should be changed/removed. Even though all the information we have of said design comes from one or two tweets. No play testing or anything, just speculation.

Sharks, squid or even octopus I could see as being mobs.
It could give the poison effect when in contact with it
1. get your noob friend to live with you on a server.
2. tell them to go touch a Pufferfish
3. wait for a message that says "[Friend IGN] was poisoned by Pufferfish
pretty good mod. try it.
Maybe the pufferfish can ***** you to death, too?

It is most likely an item. So that is probably not going to happen.
Unfortunately so. As I said before, though, it's for the best...

I like the idea of puffer fish, mainly because i like the idea of a water breathing potion.

That has to be some kind of record.
