So, whilst discussing shaders, my friend brought up a lot of ways to use Shaders. I remember him saying using the wobble shader under the effects of a nausea potion to simulate being high.
How about you guys? What are fun ways to use/abuse shaders?
Maybe tell a griefer to use the Wobble filter and then he cannot see anything - then push him into a nearby lava hole. Fun ways to prank those bad guys.
How do you get to the filters? I have tried clickin the 'secret comunity feature' button but it doesn't work.
They are not filters. They are shaders. They are, more particularly, post shaders, which means they are applied over the current rendering. They are not filters. Say it with me: They are shaders, not filters. There's also a currently unused file for a bloom shader, which leads me to believe that we're getting plenty of versatility with the new shader system.
Still don't believe they are shaders? Press F3. Hit the Super Secret Settings button. What does it say? Shaders....
Also, the shaders can't really be 'abused' yet. There is potential for better x-ray mods, I suppose.
Does anyone know if mojang is making it so everybody can use shaders? Or does it have to do with graphic cards? When I click on it I only get the sound and no shader.
Abusing them would be making them toggleable via command blocks :3
I would love that. Not just because it'd be fun to mess with people, but it would be an interesting thing for adventure maps. Though the more laggy ones would just be a griefing tool against people with lower-end computers...
To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
The ingame ones i don't know, but i know you can use shader mods to see shadows of people, using some stonehenge-y buildings you can make nice manually activated traps (only works at a specific time of day)

I am so mad at the Sky fanboys who are like "ADD BUUUDDDER TWO MINCRFT CUZ BURDR Z SP ASWUM ND STUFZ BUDDERBUDDERBUDDER :D:D:D:D" that I am dedicating my signature to stopping them. I had gone into more depth, but the stupid signature limit stopped me. Oh well.
I only finally figured out what they were yesterday after clicking the super secret button a few times and realizing the background had changed. I think I'm probably the only one who doesn't like most of them, except the one that leaves trails everywhere you look...
I wonder if they're supposed to be tests for future potion effects? (Ok, so I can dream, some of those would be cool as potion effects...)

It puts an overlay.
Shaders are within. Mainly shadowing and lighting.
Hey everyone, I'm back!
You mean super secret button? Make sure your in snapshot 13w39a and above.

...but that's just like, my opinion, man.

Well then I expect Gsls shaders, then.
Why?
