So, the obvious new feature is these "Instagram-esque" video effects. Here is a video showing all the different available effects. Thanks to tattyseal for posting this.
Here are the names for each individual effect. Thanks to Aqua
Here is a screenshot of the new available Video Options. Note there is mipmapping, View Distance is now measured in chunks, as well as anistropic filtering:
Also, there is a new feature that "dims" the light when in shaded area, would like to see a video showing this effect.
Before/After Screenshots of MIP Mapping, Notice the smoothing of all those nasty jaggy lines when blocks are in the distance....should speed things up too!:
When you press Super Secret Settings it cycles through different effects....pretty cool. Also the video settings have updated with MIPMap settings as well as other shader settings with TOGGLES!
EDIT: btw, that first pic is an actual screenshot of a VGA television type effect...this could be cool for taking creative screens.
I was having trouble getting it to work, but it looks like it was because I turned "post processing" off.
Already crashed my game once when I turned the graphics setting too high---my computer is pretty good, but those settings are pretty resource intensive I guess.
Ooh, something weird, looks like the maps in item frames have rendering problems when the chunk unloads. You have to click on them to get them to render, and even then it does the usual line thign that makes do when they're still loading up.
Started up the snapshot and this is what greeted me:
(Ignore the gold ore block. I was testing out the /setblock command in an earlier snapshot)
It might look normal but if you look closely you'll see that it looks...different.
EDIT! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT READ IT: If you click the "Super Secret Settings" button it randomly cycles through different shadings from extremely blurred, to black and white, and even upside-down. Perhaps this is Dinnerbones way of hinting at different graphics settings?
I got even more screenshots but imgur is being evil so I can't upload them and show you guys. What I could pick out from em are these:
1: A shader were the screen vibrates a little and everything changes color. So now we can make videos where it seems like we're drunk!
2: Default graphics with less color. Kind of like those old-time films but grayish instead of black and white.
3: Inverted colors I think. The ground is solid white and the water looks like pee.
4: Extremely pixelated shaders. Everything looks 2d but not exactly as you can still swivel your head around. Tons of random-color pixels everywhere. My player now looks 2d instead of 3d.

...but that's just like, my opinion, man.

So it's like Instagram for Minecraft -- Minecraft-a-gram
Already crashed my game once when I turned the graphics setting too high---my computer is pretty good, but those settings are pretty resource intensive I guess.
Also, render distance is now in chunks, up to 16.

Hmm, might want to report that to the tracker.

Thats been there for a few snapshots now. More achievements become visable as you unlock them.
They don't appear until you complete some of the others, they are still there though.

"We'll probably do a 'b' snapshot tomorrow with fixes for block breaking animation, crashes and the item frame map updating issue."
Mentioned in first post.
Awesome thanks! I will be updating the first page when I get home from work guys!
