I just spawned some zombies in my new snapshot test world, Two of them, and I went into survival then back into creative just to get them mad at me. But then suddenly a few zombies dropped OUT OF THE SKY And took no fall damage and started chasing me? There were about 6 including a zombie villager, and whenever I would kill one it seemed like they respawned at the same spot where they dropped from the sky, But I finally killed them all.
Well that MAY HAVE BEEN A glitch? I don't know? But apparently Zombies are supposed to act like zombie pigmen now, and THATS what they meant by zombies more sociable, But that was SOME GLITCH.
It's just another annoyance to buff the most boring hostile mob in the game. It needs a lot of buffs before even doing much to the player.

"Annoying" is when it's repetitive and happens when you don't want it to. Zombies will spawn more zombies sometimes and it happens when you deliberatley attack, so you have the choice if you want to be barraged by zombies.

That is an intended feature, when a zombie takes damage it has a percentage chance (Not sure what) to spawn another zombie within I believe 20 blocks (Globe).
The feature you're talking about was added in snapshot 13w04a.
However I think this needs to be adjusted, as when zombies burn they have a chance to spawn more, making them branch out until you have tons upon tons of zombies burning all day long. If they adjusted this to only include damage by the player, and not environmental damage this would be resolved.
There's a reason it's a snapshot, this is simply teasing the feature. I am 100% certain that it will be adjusted. Most likely zombies not spawning in unless they've been damaged directly by the player, and maybe a spawn rate change.

Err, I consider "annoying" to mean "obnoxious but not difficult". That's exactly what this is. It doesn't really make for a harder encounter, but it certainly makes it more grating and tedious to complete.
I havent played the snapshot, but do they still spawn more zombies if their underground (Since it was mentioned that they rain down)? If so, this is going to make my simple zombie xp farm very entertaining when killing 150+ at once with a splash potion...
I think the zombies should have a 100% chance of spawning another zombie when killed. 25% of that time it could spawn 2 zombies after death. 5% 3 zombies spawn after death. I also like the idea of coming out of the ground, but with mnecraft's graphics (not saying there bad) I bet they will just float out of the ground (still not bad at all. just what I see it looking like) I really am liking this idea of the swarming zombies. They are easy and the only way they are hard is if there are many of them.

I don't think it's annoying, I think it made them way cooler. It'd be ten times as awesome if they crawled out of the ground though.
