well obviously this is a post explaining how I disagree with a recent(not latest) update on the anvil and that is how it renames items into italics
yeah it ruins the feature of renaming an item, it's just ugly and makes it generic and I think it was stupid to change a perfectly good feature, I understand why they probably did it which was to block the ability of map makers trolling their players by making completely false items and retexturing them in a given texture pack
but the thing is, it would be BETTER and add more atmosphere to maps making their items seem like they're actually part of a game
instead you know immediately what the item is if it's in italics "oh it's just a diamond sword renamed with the anvil"
I really don't see why mojang has to add perfectly awesome features then wreck them with things like this
I do want to assert that the majority of what they've been adding has been really good, there's just a few exceptions
anvils are still very useful for adding enchantments and stuff but the renaming feature is completely ruined in my opinion, atleast you can rename items the proper way with mcedit but it was just a little stab from mojang to make things less convenient for people who want customization
furthermore, why do they have to make the command block not in creative menu? is it really going to hurt anyone if it's convenient for me? and so, what if people who don't know what they're doing with them can get them? there won't be beheadings in the streets with a shard of glass or anything, there's absolutely NO point to make the command block not in the creative menu if it's made for map makers, well map makers work very very hard and if mojang could save them even just 30 seconds it would really start to add up when working for HOURS.
if there is a good reason, then why create more restrictions? the whole reason that notch hired a staff for minecraft was to make it more versatile and playable, they have done a good job at that don't get me wrong, but some things mojang does are just retarded
and I can use the word retarded, it means to slow or to stop, and well that's exactly what they do, they retard the development of minecraft. are you going to suspend me for saying flame-retardant?
I say this last "retarded" part because I got an infraction, it is curses website so if they don't like that word then they should censor it.
I dropped a very worn diamond pickaxe in my anvil yesterday, and since I was too lazy to count out a few, I also dropped the entire stack of 23 diamonds I had in my possession at the time into the anvil.
Just as I went to look at the XP cost, the screen went blank. SERVER RESET.
When the server restarted and I logged back in... my diamond pickaxe and my 23 diamonds were gone. Poof. Like an offering to the Mojang Gods.
If italic item names are the worst part of Minecraft, then I'd say this was the best 14 bucks I ever spent.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."
well obviously this is a post explaining how I disagree with a recent(not latest) update on the anvil and that is how it renames items into italics Don't see it.
yeah it ruins the feature of renaming an item, it's just ugly and makes it generic and I think it was stupid to change a perfectly good feature, I understand why they probably did it which was to block the ability of map makers trolling their players by making completely false items and retexturing them in a given texture pack Uh, no. It was there to distinguish between different types of items. I have 2 picks on my bar at a time, one renamed and one not for the sake of knowing which one's my silky and which one's my fortune. Also, if this is severely making your gameplay experience worse, then you need to seriously just deal with it. It's minor, lots of people aren't swayed by it, and the devs could care less.
but the thing is, it would be BETTER and add more atmosphere to maps making their items seem like they're actually part of a game What? It's clearly part of a game, part of Minecraft, it's INTENTIONAL.
instead you know immediately what the item is if it's in italics "oh it's just a diamond sword renamed with the anvil"
I really don't see why mojang has to add perfectly awesome features then wreck them with things like this
I do want to assert that the majority of what they've been adding has been really good, there's just a few exceptions This is absurd. If I named a Diamond Sword "Doombringer" I'd bloody well see it's renamed with or without slanty-text. You're mindlessly nitpicking.
anvils are still very useful for adding enchantments and stuff but the renaming feature is completely ruined in my opinion, atleast you can rename items the proper way with mcedit but it was just a little stab from mojang to make things less convenient for people who want customization Less convenient? Ruined? Do tell me more of these lies, my dear friend.
furthermore, why do they have to make the command block not in creative menu? is it really going to hurt anyone if it's convenient for me? and so, what if people who don't know what they're doing with them can get them? there won't be beheadings in the streets with a shard of glass or anything, there's absolutely NO point to make the command block not in the creative menu if it's made for map makers, well map makers work very very hard and if mojang could save them even just 30 seconds it would really start to add up when working for HOURS. To prevent regular OPson a server screwing with the world. Ones without /give, of course. And honestly? It's not that hard to put a chest in your map with stashes of command blocks for your uses. I find it minor and not worth your time to complain about. It's going to take more time for the devs to see your complaint, find a medium, test it, see what happens and so on. In that time people make entire maps of high quality using command blocks.
if there is a good reason, then why create more restrictions? the whole reason that notch hired a staff for minecraft was to make it more versatile and playable, they have done a good job at that don't get me wrong, but some things mojang does are just retarded No, you're just complaining about menial things that don't affect the playerbase.
and I can use the word retarded, it means to slow or to stop, and well that's exactly what they do, they retard the development of minecraft. are you going to suspend me for saying flame-retardant?
I say this last "retarded" part because I got an infraction, it is curses website so if they don't like that word then they should censor it. Take it up with the mods, not the community.
Yes, there's nothing better to do. And it had to be done.
well obviously this is a post explaining how I disagree with a recent(not latest) update on the anvil and that is how it renames items into italics
Anvils were updated to have renamed items being in italics during the 1.4 snapshots, I believe. They weren't updated after the fact, they were changed before being released. Yes, its semantics but there is an important difference there.
yeah it ruins the feature of renaming an item, it's just ugly and makes it generic and I think it was stupid to change a perfectly good feature, I understand why they probably did it which was to block the ability of map makers trolling their players by making completely false items and retexturing them in a given texture pack
Saying italics are ugly and generic is purely subjective. Italics are supposed to be used to set things a part Obviously a named item is different and more "special" than a normal item thus it making sense to make this difference noticeable. I also doubt that Mojang did this to prevent map makers from performing any shenanigans.
but the thing is, it would be BETTER and add more atmosphere to maps making their items seem like they're actually part of a game

Italic names for items are not that big of a deal. The fact that you've created two threads now (I think you created the last one but I'm too lazy to look it up) shows that you have a ridiculously irrational hate of this feature. Again, Mojang didn't officially add the anvil with a naming feature different than it is now. Seriously, you're complaining about a 1.4 snapshot change from almost 3 months ago.
anvils are still very useful for adding enchantments and stuff but the renaming feature is completely ruined in my opinion, atleast you can rename items the proper way with mcedit but it was just a little stab from mojang to make things less convenient for people who want customization
Here's a quote for you about opinions. "Everyone can have an opinion, but you have to be ready to accept that it may be wrong and misguided and in need of correction."
Now, you're being overly dramatic about a relatively minor feature. I doubt that Mojang (can you please properly capitalize things, it's seriously annoying) changed the feature to annoy map makers or those who like/want customization. They probably did it because it makes sense to emphasis the rename items that one most likely cares a lot about as evidence of renaming them. In English, and I assume many other languages, using italics is a proper way of emphasizing something.
furthermore, why do they have to make the command block not in creative menu? is it really going to hurt anyone if it's convenient for me? and so, what if people who don't know what they're doing with them can get them? there won't be beheadings in the streets with a shard of glass or anything, there's absolutely NO point to make the command block not in the creative menu if it's made for map makers, well map makers work very very hard and if mojang could save them even just 30 seconds it would really start to add up when working for HOURS.
I don't think most people know for sure why but I assume it's because the command block is not normally in creative mode. It might confuse people who don't make maps. Also, honestly, is it that much faster to hunt/click the proper item in the creative menu than to use the /give command?
if there is a good reason, then why create more restrictions? the whole reason that notch hired a staff for minecraft was to make it more versatile and playable, they have done a good job at that don't get me wrong, but some things mojang does are just retarded

When you say that "some things mojang does are just retarded" you are using it to imply that they are mentally deficient using a term that is somewhay derogatory to use. The way you use it that I bolded is not derogatory but the first one obviously implied mental deficiency. You kind of deserved an infraction for using it that way before. Remember, definitions matter and are implied by how you use the word. Both times you used it in the second paragraph, that I marked, you used a different definition as implied by the use.
