THAT. All I wanted was for that to be fixed. ONE OF THESE DAYS.... ones of these days... THAT needs to be fixed. It's really bugging the h*** out of me and it's more disturbing that it's a known glitch that's been around for a LLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG time now and no attention what so ever has been given to it. PLEASE... PLEASE someone at Mojang fix this...
Well, it's not like this is the last snapshot or something, so there's still time. I hope this gets fixed too (what the heck causes it anyway?). It's more of an annoyance than something major, but even so...
It usually happens under trees, but generally just.. everywhere. Thank them for not fixing the most obvious glitch that started up again in a 1.2 snapshot. :/
It happens with caves and mountains too. I hate it so much. I KNOW it'll get fixed before the full release of 1.3, but it still is irritating

Has anyone else noticed that if you put glowstone on the floor of something. It does not actually toss light out unless your within a few blocks of it. I put glowstone on the dome of my arena so that mobs would not spawn up their. Instead they not only spawn, but it looks like they are partying up their when I walk by.
they traded. we get these now instead of the blinky chest, players hand, paintings, signs......
Not really, I still have this issue, even in the snapshots. So I have both the lighting errors and random objects blinking, which is particularly egregious on signs because when they blacken I can't read them.
They seem to be focused more on improving performance right now. It's possible that the fix for the lighting issues could actually consume more resources. These lighting issues were introduced when they added the new anvil heights and it could involve tweeking lighting calculations or updates to properly happen in the new heights and that could mean worse performance.

oh, sorry. I don't have that one anymore. strange. now I got blocks reappearing after I mine them and sometimes the drop takes a second to show up. and I'm getting pushed back randomly for no reason.
stupid dogs are still doing the un wanted teleport
Go break a block where that happens and it gets rid of it all.. This is probably not a priority as it does not retract from the minecraft experience in any way.
Yeah lighting glitches have been pretty significant since 1.2 since they put in the new light engine I think.
However, the dog/cat randomly warping to me in SMP is the biggest annoyance I've had lately. I'm just walking in a 1-wide tunnel and suddenly all my dogs and cats are swarmed around me and keep pushing me in both directions so it is nearly impossible to get out. Was introduced with 1.2 I believe.
Lighting has had issues off and on many times during minecraft going back to alpha even. It will happen again probably at some point after they fix it this time too.
I was just about to make a thread about this, these lighting bugs have kept me from enjoying Minecraft for months now. Every piece of terrain looks like ****, and it has neither been mentioned by Jeb or Nathan on their twitters.
I doubt we will be seeing a fix any time soon, but hopefully it gets sorted out before 1.3 is out officially.
Not sure what's going on, but it seems like you're saying stuff about snapshots, so...
I have some advice for you: Stick to the normal game.
I'd gladly stick to the normal game if my only other option was Ender Chests that empty themselves upon respawning, crashes when previous worlds are loaded on the new snapshot, etc. (Yes, both of those are fixed now... or at least, the crash part)
If you're not talking about snapshots, then I can't say anything except that I don't get that glitch... well, rarely, in caves. Then I place a torch and all is good because I'm a Creative guy.

I don't know if I am real without you. What is left of me without you? I don't know what's real without you... HOW CAN I EXIST WITHOUT YOU!?
I know the lighting bug and the world hole bugs (not the traditional server world holes, but when the game doesn't visibly load them until you walk on them) are the big ones for me. That and pets teleporting to you. Lots of stuff actually.
That's why I'd rather they focus on performance and bug squashing than new features, right now. There's enough of those.

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
Didn't Jeb say he couldn't fix lighting bugs? That it had something to do with the player's GPUs?
I've tried this on multiple system of complete opposites ends of the performance spectrum and the lighting issue persist on both. One is a top-notch, creme of the crop computer when it comes to tech specs; Intel i7 ivy-bridge at 3.6GHz, Gigabyte GTX580, 16GB RipJaw G.Skill RAM, 240GB SSD Boot drive, 2.5TB HDD Storage Drive, running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (I do alot of intense game model development and heavy video editting). While the other system is a terrible All-in-one Sony system (iMac knock-off), with an Intel Pentium(R) Dual-core with all on-board video/sound support with 4GB of RAM running Windows Vista Home Edition.
One averages 800 FPS, while the other 15 FPS. Both experience the same lighting issues, although only the Sony experiences flashing 1st-person arm model and top-half of the chests flashing. I'm fairly certain it's not a hardware issue, but more of a terrible lighting system which I so, so, so badly want to be fixed...

Placing a torch in a 1 block area and it lights everything underneath it but keeps a black area.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
