I mean, there's the broken armor system, the fact that the player curves to be beyond exponentially effective versus presented challenges that only increase in a small curve, the fact that rate of resource acquisition outstrips rate of use by something close to an order of magnitude, and a whole slew of other problems with the PVE challenges presented to the player in Minecraft...
And we're arguing over inventory space? Really?
This item is reminds me of the piggy bank/safe from Terraria. Nobody called those items overpowered in *that* game, because they're not. The idea that these items are overpowered here, is similarly silly. The fact that they're accessible by anyone who would make them, actually makes them rather weak on multiplayer. In singleplayer, it just makes it so that you can continue playing the game without making nearly as many return trips -- a necessary thing, considering how many new items have been added to the game relative to when the current amount of inventory spaces were chosen. Don't forget that. Our inventory spaces haven't changed, if I remember correctly, since the game became open for any sort of testing. That means that Mojang has added tons of different types of items and mechanics to the game, that they expect the player to want to use, without adding more inventory space to account for these new items.
At any rate, still, we're arguing over *inventory space*. This is a silly non-issue. Glad to see the votes reflect that.
We're really arguing about this?

In the end, he's right you know... (pun intended) It's just inventory space. In single player this item has to be CRAFTED to possibly effect your game and you can easily forget it's even there if you don't want to use it, whereas in multiplayer the vast majority of the chests' supposedly game-breaking properties are nullified by their universal inventory.

Actually, the votes don't reflect it as much as you would think, I figure that there is at least 30% of people who think that it might be good to change it a little, about 35% who are anti change, and the remaining 25% (or so) just don't care in any way.
And no, I am not saying anything against inventory space

30% against 70% isn't enough of a warrant for a change. Go look at the poll.
In any case, the poll on the forum doesn't matter because this isn't an audience-wide poll.
1) 30% against 70% isn't enough of a warrant for a change. Go look at the poll.
2) In any case, the poll on the forum doesn't matter because this isn't an audience-wide poll.
1) Go look at the poll, specifically question #3.
2) But it should represent, to some degree, what the average amongst minecrafters is.
By looking at question 1, then dividing the results of answer 3 by looking at question 3, I got this:
29.63% believe a change should be made.
32.08% don't care.
38.49% think no change should be made.
There are rounding errors, but it only makes a total of 0.2% difference; it is now clear that the most people think it's fine as it is.
This is of course true, I am rather surprised by how many people would be upset if the ender chest was made harder to use, I mean really? Really? that many people would be upset if it was to change, I was personally surprised by the amount of people who think that way.
Now, before you say the same thing about my opinion: I would not be upset if they stayed the same as they are now, but I do think that they would be improved by changing them a bit
You two are forgetting that not everybody voted on Number 3. Also, the answers are biased. I don't see an option saying that I think it's fine as it is and that it SHOULD NOT be changed.
And no, that third option isn't a valid choice because it makes me out as someone who's afraid of change.

I didn't forget that; I figured that into my calculations.
Of course, my calculations and your point prove our point even more that the most people in the community want no change.

2) Everything is biased.
3) If you think that way then you would ether not REALLY care, or you would be upset.
4) The third option is a valid choice, because, you still fall into one of the three categories.
I think that in single plaer they are fine, but in SMP they should be able to be set as private. However, if you know where someone's ender chest is, you should be able to hack into it with another ender chest somehow.
This way they retain the 1 player ender chest mechanic, while also retaining the multiplayer chest mechanic.
How I propose to hack it is to connect another ender chest that you can access with the target enderchest through a redstone current.

I agree, although I play on a friendly server, I do realize that on PvP servers they need some way to let other people steal from you.
Of course, there's still no justifiable reason to nerf the chest. It's still 70% of the votes that say the chest shouldn't be nerfed. After all, the third quiz is only a subdivision of that group as well as some voters who shouldn't be counted at all.
Ender Chests basically increase the size of your inventory (UNFAIR!)
simple, when the last enderchest is broken, it should drop all the items it is containing, that's a glitch (probably) that has yet to be fixed. Once it is, all Ender Chests will have to share inventory room, while regular chest won't. This makes sure that normal chests aren't useless.
How is it unfair? Compared to what? Already you can install far more powerful items into the game with mods. The ender chest is an end or near-end game item, and for their effort shouldn't the player be rewarded with something?
UGH, I FAIL
OK, yes, these things are very OP
they basically give you double inventory space for no apparent reason.
Being able to double your inventory space is kinda unfair
So basically, for no "apparent" reason, this item is over powered. Reason stated is; It gives you double the inventory space, which is unfair to... someone.

Care to elaborate?
mods are mods, they are meant to be unfair.
As for enderchests being unfair, I mean that they are a universal upgrade.
er... not sure how to elaborate it any more...
let's put it this way. Let's add potions that double your health, double the damage you do, double your speed, doubles the durability of armor, weapons AND tools, and it lasts forever until you die, but if you do, it'll drop as an item as if it were in your inventory.
Same basic principle with enderchests, it's doubling something you have just for being in your inventory, and it's not even fair to say it takes up an inventory space since it gives you more.
Actually, it's worse (more OP) than those potions because the inventory isn't lost, you can just craft another chest and have all your inventory back.
also an invalid argument would be: "that's not fair, the potions help keep you alive, which the ender chest doesn't do, which means you lose it more often"
again, craft another chest and you get all your inventory back and the double size inventory back. On top of that, not having to go back up to put away your new stuff or have to eat makes you able to stay down longer, so any trips back to your house that you would have run into a creeper are now non-existent, so that saves you quite a bit anyway, or alternatively, any timeyou would have died from hunger, you now didn't.
I mean, why don't we just have infinite inventory already?

How does that help? It just means you need to keep an extra chest somewhere.
I really don't see how it's any more overpowered than stuffing items into a regular chest in case you die. Ender chests are costly to lose (compared to what you are likely to be carrying with you in a high-risk situation) and you only get one extra inventory to use (instead of endless ones that extra regular chests provide.) It's basically just a convenience for players that have gotten far enough where more resources are not really crucial for survival.

Expand.
It was an intended feature designed to keep your goods safe.
What? Ender chests only have one inventory shared between them. Normal chests don't.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
