You still have to do all of the planning required to go off and discover new areas (what food, tools, ores, etc will I need?), you just have more space to store it in.
Except you don't get that extra space without expending significant effort.
Just think of that extra space as a part of your inventory that is not permanently lose-able.
I think it's funny when people say "Just don't use it" because I find it so flip and ignorant. Some people like to play with restrictions enforced. It wouldn't be a bad feature to disable the use of arbitrary items during world creation. Just another set of game options.
The implications of using the ender chest in multi-player are much more grand.
I DO like the ability to have some kind of "safe" storage on servers. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it 100%. It just needs to be like the enchantment table. You can't pick it back up.

It's a GAME breaking issue we are talking about here. I was called an idiot and many other names back in 1.0 full release. You know why? I complained that armor was far overpowered.
I was told "Don't use it".
I was told, "It makes it easier".
I'm sorry. But if we are going to do this kind of stuff, we might as well make everything break 2x as fast. I don't want to be "hassled" by spending 30 minutes to gather cobble.
Anything that makes it easier, is always accepted by everyone. Anything that adds a challenge, is a "Hassle".
This is very, VERY, sad.
Transporting items cannot be compared to key elements of the game like breaking blocks, dealing/receiving damage, ect.
Transporting items was a long and overly frustrating task that was just made quicker. It doesn't make the game easier.
Now shut up and stop complaining. You aren't forced to use it.

I don't even know how to reply to such a statement. Honestly.
I'm completely shocked today.
You just did, and come off it. You dislike the idea, that doesn't mean everyone who disagrees with you is sad.
You are just being a bit arrogant in thinking you exclusively know what's best for Minecraft, your little armor story was cute. But that was a bug (not an increase in it's power that was later removed), not the intended function of armor.
It's cool, You don't have to like everything added to the game. But it's not game breaking because you said so =/

I wouldn't have a problem with having it break apart after using it and trying to hack it apart like a work bench. You'd just have to build and take several of them if you wanted to use it more than once.

Couldn't you just write a list of bulleted text instructions instead of making me watch another horribly narrated youtube video?
8 obsidian and an eye of ender seems like a reasonable expense for what it does. You need to:
- Get 3 diamonds for a pick to get the 8 obsidian
- Kill enderman to get ender pearl
- Go to the nether, find a fortress, and kill a blaze for blaze powder
For the average player, that is a decent challenge.
I've never had the need or seen anyone have the need to carry more than a stack of food for anything. Even with melon, it lasts a long time. All it is doing is adding more convenience to the game for a reasonable price to pay.
Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on a second.
It needs an Eye of Ender? Not JUST an ender pearl? WHAT? Well **** that changes everything.
I wouldn't have a problem with having it break apart after using it and trying to hack it apart like a work bench. You'd just have to build and take several of them if you wanted to use it more than once.
That is what I was thinking. It's a very powerful item. Though I feel MUCH better knowing it takes an Eye of Ender and not just the pearl. It would be nice for it not to be picked back up.

We did not know that is a bug at the time, and whether it was or not. People were fine with it. Which, whether 99% of people liked it or not. It WAS a problem. I'm not an idiot. I've always tried to work towards balance.

With games not being needlessly frustrating? Yeah. I'm fine with that idea.
Mobs can still kill, hunger still kills, blocks are still breaking at the same speed, building isn't any easier. It just means I can get a chest worth of items from point A to point B or from point A into my inventory(or the other way around) faster. That's not making the game easier. As I've said twice its just making pointlessly frustrating parts of the game less frustrating.
And to further enforce my point about frustrating games not being hard games. Play CoD. Its the easiest game ever and its frustrating to no end. But by the logic of frustration = difficult it should be harder than any other game right?
We did not know that is a bug at the time, and whether it was or not. People were fine with it. Which, whether 99% of people liked it or not. It WAS a problem. I'm not an idiot. I've always tried to work towards balance.
Not really, It was obviously a problem in race for wools, You pulled 99% right from your behind because you want to feel special.
Anyway, Ending my conversation here, feel free to rebuttal. But you admitted you were wrong when you found out it required an Eye of Ender, ^^ That was big of you~ I rep'd your post for that~ Have a good day.
You don't see an issue with a item than removes all the limitations of what you bring with you?
Most shooter games only let you carry a few weapons, which makes you choose what you want to use. If you could just carrying unlimited stuff, then all of that challenge is removed.
That is my issue :[
"Don't like it? Don't use it."
Again, that is the most unintelligent argument used on these forums. Under your logic, it would be ok to have an easy to make weapon that does 1000 damage because you can just tell people "Don't use it"
Seriously people, this is a big issue
Minecraft isn't a shooter game. Being able to transport things more easily is not an issue. Without the Enderchest all you'd have to do is make multiple trips. And if you couldn't pick the chest back up then what would happen if you misplaced it?
Minecraft is supposed to be a game with minimal limits yet so many people seem to want so many limits put on the player.

Explain to me, How you, yourself, are special. Why are you "correct"? From what I've read, you and I are both equal. Thus neither you or I can "win" this, whatever we call it.
The armor glitch, WAS an issue. This isn't just a "Minecraft" matter. It's something for any game. Things that break balance and walls hurt the game. Whether people want to believe it or not, like the duplicating cheat in The Elder Scrolls. Whether a person wanted to admit it or not. It DID break the game. There was no opinion with that.
Same as with armor. When it made mobs completely a Zero threat level. There was NO challenge to the game what so ever at all. That was not an opinion, it was a issue.
Doesn't matter if I Like it or not. Liking and disliking are not the issue here. It's that this mechanic has a great potential to break the game somewhat.
The more that things like this are added, the worse it becomes. As people get used to it. I wouldn't be surprised if in a years time, the game is changed to become far easier than it is now.
There are plenty of players, from all sorts of games that would agree with me. And this subject doesn't stop at games, it goes for just about anything.
You basically call me crazy, because of what you have grown used to.

Yes, because Limitations MAKE you THINK.
Fine, just remove all the challenge.

It really isn't the end of the world if people disagree with you.
Also, do your research before making these threads. Your lack of knowledge on the subject, combined with an undying passion about a non-existent reality, give you absolutely no credibility. Also, enchantment tables can be retrieved.
Minecraft isn't a puzzle or RPG game. Its not designed to make you have to think about every move before you make it.
You just have a different idea of what Minecraft should be. Which is fine for the type of game Minecraft is. It doesn't force you to use anything you don't like so you set your own limitations.
You don't have to try to force these limitations upon everyone else.
And for the record. You are completely wrong here and everyone against you is completely right.

You seem to have a problem with every little thing that is added that makes the game more enjoyable. Not all of us have the time to pack all of our items up(or lay down a railways for a storage minecart) just to move.
The crafting isn't cheap either. You need 2, so that is 16 obsidian and 2 eyes of ender, not that easy if you've just started a world.
I can't wait to see what you have to say about villager trading...

I disagree with Locklear for the reasons others have posted, but I find this to be quite a foolish thing to say, in any situation.
