I love the new larger biome world option, but is there a way to change an old world from normal to larger biome? I know its not an option on a menu, but is there a file I can change? Whats the simplest way to do it?
Can you go into the server settings folder and change the setting there? Is it maybe Large biomes = true?
Then all new land generated would be larger biomes?
You could always try using Worldedit to copy/paste over your designs from an old world to a new one. That's what I plan to do... Although things are made quite easy for me since I've been making just a bunch of sky islands lately.

Use NBT edit, when you open your world file there will be a line called "generatorName". Change the output from "default" to "largeBiomes", Dont forget to make large lowercase and biomes with a capital b. Then when you explore new chunks it will generate large biomes.

If you want to change the world generation after starting a world, yes. Yes you do. No need to be disgusted, it's only if you want to have large biomes in an old world.
Excactly the problem for me. Part of my gameplay includes the feeling that i am building up a a character thru his experiences and saved resources. I really hate importing and/or starting over. I thought mojang had made a statement that they would not do this sort of thing to me again. and again.. and now again.
This is really turning me OFF the game.
I have an established existing world which i can now no longer enjoy...................

You don't need a spiritual leader to achieve enlightenment.
Do we need to ask for an OPTION switch? Is that all we are needing here? Because as it looks now i cannot use my much loved world which is in default with the new larger biomes which look much better and feel more real than any terrain previous. I do like the expansive feeling in the larger biomes.

This is a direct result of that statement.
They have introduced a new world generator AND they have NOT broken your old world.
It uses the same generator, same biomes. It is the same as it was before they changed the game.
Because everyone was pissed when their town got buried in snow, or was surrounded by discontiguous terrain.

If you want to undo the stability that Mojang added to world generation, you are free to use NBEdit to modify your world's level.dat and switch to another terrain generator.
Make a new world or else you will be griping about how the world abruptly changes at certain points.
Also, I am pretty sure that your biome data would carry over just fine, despite what a few people have told you, because biome data is in the actual map data now.

I've never seen anyone complain about a new feature before. They said that they'd never force us to scrap our worlds again, and they didn't. They NEVER had. With the introduction of all these new features, YEAH, you're going to have to generate new chunks to find it. How the hell would they introduce new content without doing that? You're asking for something not possible. They simply gave us the OPTION to have larger biomes if we want them. They aren't forcing you to scrap your old maps and switch. It would be impossible to magically make every biome in existing worlds larger, so you're going to have to make a new world with the option to have it. Quit being such an entitled whiner. And why CAN'T you enjoy it anymore? You still had what you had before. And you even have the tools to fix it, but you refuse to. You have no right to complain
again i have to quit all my work and start a new game, mojang its lettin me down.... and I've tought that with anvil this won't happen again... and here we are again... sad.. minecraft only lose with this sort of thing...

I suggest just using MCEdit when it updates. Import all your houses and stuff into the large biome version of the world.

I know old content will not be changed, but I just wanted to see if there was a way to change an old world for newly generated content

That's right. Old chunk biomes will stay the same. You would just get hard biome edges in the same places as new-chunk borders (cliffs).

Praise be to Spode.
