Silk Touch has been nerfed again. You can't even get glass back anymore. Seriously, what? What was the point of this nerf? Silk Touch is useless now. First they take ice out, and now glass. And you can't even get glass panes?
Why on earth did they make this enchant then? So that you could get grass? Most likely that will also be nerfed for god knows why.
Stop removing pointless things out of the game. I want to actually use my god damn silk touch enchants.
silktouch is reatrded and should be removed completely.
there is absolutely no reason why i need a "magic pickaxe" to collect items that i should be able to collect with tools we already have.
I doubt if silk touch was removed we'd get the ability to pick up glass, ice, and grass blocks with normal tools. They'd most likely just become unobtainable in vanilla survival.
um, am i missing something here? you haven't been able to collect glass with that enchantment for awhile now. or did it get added back in in a prerelease?

we don't need to be able to pick up glass its cheap and easy to make, but if you really wanted to you could just remove it without breaking it with your hands... at least thats pretty much what i see happen when people put in a new window.
*cough* the don't *cough* smash it with a pickaxe.
grass block - you could obtain them with a hoe using the left mouse button.
mycellium - shovel - done.
ice block - pickaxe - done
God damn HOPING this is a bug or else i'm losing all interest in this enchantment . . .
It's MEANT to be used for stuff like this >_<
If this is intentional, I might as well expect Mycellium to not work with Silk Touch Shovels next *groan*
I understand why they made ice unobtainable though it, people where "trolling the nether" by putting down ice and breaking it to make water though this could have been fixed by not allowing ice to be placed in the nether, probably just didn't feel like coding it. Spawners possibly because they wanted to keep the whole "you must breed your animals now!" thing intact, so I guess that's half understandable but I don't see any reason to remove glass, or glass panes... I'm quite annoyed that you can't just pick them up as it is and needed silk touch before this update. Silk touch has become increasingly useless, I don't see a need to gain "Coal ore" or "Redstone ore" for anything other than pure looks, I mean getting smooth stone still helps because you can save on the coal but is that going to be it's only useful use soon?
On the subject of enchanting, we aren't "expert wizards" so I expect some randomness with our enchants, but I kinda wish I'd be allowed to say how many points I want to spend instead of clicking a million times till the number I want shows up...

Actually, Jeb said that he removed this functionality because of "bugs", and that he wanted to re-implement it if he had the time. I'd be very surprised if this "new nerf" was actually intended.

Thank you for correcting me, I didn't see where he said that. The bug could have been allowing water into the nether.

Yeah, probably. I didn't see what was so wrong with it, though. Excessive obsidian farming, maybe?
In any case, ice could just evaporate in the Nether like water does now. Or once it melted, the water could evaporate. *shrugs*

Remember kids, when the mod crashes delete system32!

Try using a pickaxe to collect glass. Doesn't work very well, ehh.
Hey! Hey you! Yeah you with the face! NARF!!
No, really?? I never knew that?!?
^this doesn't mean you should abandon all logic and common sense for the purpose of good game-play.
yeah, because obviously you would use a pickaxe to remove your windows, ehhhh.
that would be the logical choice, ehhh.

Except that I very much doubt this will happen in vanilla. Run off and make a mod if you so please.
But really, if you're going to remove one of it's biggest uses, you might as well not have it at all.
