I've created a town in Creative based around a village, called Crestvale. I've been working on it for about 2 months now. It's still a work in progress, but I'd like to hear suggestions.
TOP IMAGE: As you can see, this is the minecart track. It connects to "Cairo", a smaller village more for monuments, and to the PvP arena linking back to the spawnpoint and many other areas.
SECOND FROM TOP: This is a closer view of the town square, taken from above the church, circled in yellow. The neighboring butcher has a red circle, and the blacksmith's, not too far from there, is in grey. Next, a close-by orange circle denotes the real estate office, whilst a purple circle denotes an automatic lottery machine. Aqua dons a kiddie ride (a piston hooked up to a pulse circuit), but light pink points out a torture chamber (a machine that, when turned on, slowly suffocates the poor soul inside). To finish it off, the herbalist's shop is in green, and the town center is in a blue circle.
THIRD FROM TOP: South of the town square is the farming district. First off, the orange and yellow circles are the pumpkin and melon farms, respectively, as is the namesake of the district. Wedged in there in green is a bank, and the circle of brown is the farm owner's shack (decoration). In blue, which actually belongs to the town square, is the pool, complete with diving boards. Next to that is the archery range (this one is the Farming District's), in silver. Purple dons a fancy track, for the purpose of delivering bricks from the factory, well outside of town. Finally, looming above it all in an intimidating black circle, is the jail.
FOURTH FROM TOP: On the west side, bordering a river, is the aptly named riverside district. Let's start with the courthouse, that quartz building circled in yellow. To the left is a graveyard, and over on the right is a gorgeous beach, in red, a short way from the actual town. Purple is the cryogenic facility, holding hostage a few mobs, and the library in orange, currently short on books. Green is the town's hotel, reaching an elevation of y:100, right next to the river, in blue.
FOURTH FROM BOTTOM: At the waterfront, close to the woods, is the beautiful harbor area. A blue circle is the docks themselves, with the gallows in red and the mines in yellow. It's a fairly small area, and minecart travel is by far superior to boating, but it's still a must-see area of the town.
THIRD FROM BOTTOM: Crestvale at night, onlooking from the North. About 95% of the town is visible, with ample lighting enshrouding this pocket of civilization. Yes, all that glowstone is there for a reason, Sherlock.
SECOND FROM BOTTOM: A simply perfect new day begins, the Sun rising over sparkling waves. (Okay, Minecraft doesn't have sparkling or waves, but you get what I mean.) The harbor area is visible at the far right.
BOTTOM: The entire region, viewed from a small island out at sea.
I hope you guys liked it!

95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump of the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this into your sig.
this took you 2 months? you need world edit, otherwis it looks nice
I bet he was doing it in survival or something. It feed so much better when you do it in survival with no cheats:P
But nice man, looks freaking awesome! You just need a few more large buildings and it will be sweet:D

Don't know what to build? Here is a "What should I build?" generator!
and, well, I made builds at survival too (not this kingdom shown at the video, another kingdom that is at another continent and an island) but, take so long to gather resources and to build that, if I was to do it all at survival, I would really take a lot of time, even more because of university and job.
2 months ?!? Are you joking ... My little brother can build better .. I'm sorry but It doesn't look too good and Creative can't be considered as cheating at all -.-
I said it was a work in progress. I wanted suggestions or compliments, not insults.

TVflea, Yosugo, and romo22: Please, just get off this thread and go annoy someone else. I posted this because I wanted a civil, public opinion on what to do next with it. Exreme criticism isn't the way to treat others- what did I do to you?

I'm afraid I have to side with TVflea on both his original comment and his retorts. I am sure you did your absolute best but as a blunt fact: if you allow the internet to view your work, then it is not going to end well, especially if it isn't very good to begin with (compared to other people's work). Besides, he did give you some pointers for future builds, yet you snapped at him, what was he supposed to say? Personally, I think you need more depth and more extensive materials for your builds. For instance, try not to have a simple pattern on a cube. Instead, add several different materials on a detailed shape.

I gave you my civil opinion: your build is not very appealing. You were the one who took it too far and extremified it.
what did I do to you?
Well before you got in trouble and edited your post you were very harsh towards me.

You can't backlash that people that don't like what you made. Because of your backlashing I have to side with TVflea, Yosugo and romo22.

I think this looks really good. I agree to some extent to the critics, it does look a little simple, but the REALLY good stuff is made by people who have no life. This guy OBVIOUSLY has a life outside minecraft, which I applaud him for. This would take way more time and planning than I have patience for.
BRO-SLAP! NICE JOB! Can you help me with my projects?

still
a tip to build better even without much time (even if you want to build something not simple and big or huge):
-build it little by little, day by day, even if just 30 minutes/day, when you can.
with time, it will be there, a complete build, and good enough for you to be really proud of.
building in a hurry tend to end up with a non-detailed build or too simple build and no details or almost no details (or not good details).
I wouldnt say I am a great builder neither that I am the best, but I think I am good, at least I try to do it unique of the kind at my world (dont repeat the same build over and over) and to make the build and the overal to look good.
the same, little by little, when I have time and some inspiration (again, I am not the best and I neither consider my self as a great builder, but I try. a great builder also dont need to build "great" stuff in size or amount of details, but a poorly detailed for sure is not the art of a great builder, still, details at the wrong place also make the build to dont look good either)
-build it little by little, day by day, even if just 30 minutes/day, when you can.
As an aspiring architect, I must tell you and anyone who's uses this advice
no. Do not focus on the little details when building without a written plan of your building. The best way to build freely is to build hierarchically; focusing on the most important, then revising with the other, lesser stuff later.
Rather than editing my previous post, I thought I would come back and give a few more pointers. Firstly, you will want have a layout for your city, it doesn't have to be a tic-tac-toe shape (as a matter of fact I would not recommend that) but I would heavily recommend some way of telling where your buildings should go, like laying down roads. I also would not limit your buildings to buildings. Try new things, like fountains or monuments. Use realistic colors and styles of building, since many people like realistic builds (Google 'Taj Mahal Minecraft' or other famous landmarks). As well as that, take another look at my suggestions in my previous post. In conclusion, I'm slightly ashamed to say, "You have a long way to go, young padawan".
EDIT: To prove there are no hurt feelings on my end, here is a picture of a dinosaur!

well . . if you consider creative as a cheat . . .
look what can be done with creative (no MCEdit neither SPC):

depend on how much free time/day he have and how many days/week he have free time to work at his minecraft project.
real life > game life.

The build looks pretty simple, just normal 'noobish' wooden houses with a few cliche arenas and stuff. Not much to see here.
