10 bit decoder:
Minecrafter9, all credit goes to him for the screen, all I did was add a piston monitor and find a way to control it without the normal buttons n levers.
everything else(GPU,ALU,registers etc.) by me
BEHOLD, THE COMPLEXITY OF THE NEW DESIGN:
watch the trailer here: (note, this was recorded when it was not fully finished!)
watch it running a demo program here:
explenation "series"
unofficial videos:
my comment on the above video: awesome! by the way, you can make 3+2 for example by using 1+2 for num 1 and 1+2 for num 2. also, where did that button come from? and it can do more than calculate, it can play games to! it is just running a calculator demo program. why didn't you tell me you made this video? I am going to add this to unofficial videos and you will probably get tons of views! my comment on the above video: actually it is a computer, RUNNING a calculator program. and the button is not nececary, where did that come from? ant least you understood binary! also, tell me when you make these videos because you can get posted on the main page and get tons of views from it! I am adding you right now! thanks for the video!

VEGETA WHAT DOES HES REDSTONE COUNT SAY ??
ITS OVER 9000 BIT OF REDSTONE
THATS IMPOSSIBLE WHAT ABOUT THE CHUNK LIMIT !!!
....what?
redstone count?
9000Bits, no, it is a 10 bit computer.
it...is possible. this thing is going to be smaller than the original, and that fitted on the map so I do not understand.
9000 bits? where did you get that? real-life(not minecraft) supercomputers use such high values!
can you please explain/make sense in your posts?
also, how old are you?
My main complaint last time about bad layout was making wide buses go around corners. That hasen't been fixed, though the design looks much better.
My ideas:
- Stack components and make buses go up/down.
- Redesign the wiring to have less corners, like this:
In any case it's looking great, best of luck on improving the computer.
Looks good :smile.gif: I'm way excited for the faster clock. Good luck putting it all together.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Making a video game mod for minecraft. Going great. The idea? blocks when clicked open up a minigame that rewards you with ores and such based on your ingame score. Almost finished with beta version, which features a very basic pong game.

edit:
WTH?
You don't make any sense.
Sorry, i think you misunderstood, that is just the wiring and pieces, not the layout.
And i cannot use your layout because my system is WAAAY diferent from your average computer.
Do not worry, all pieces are custom remade so it all fits like a puzzle. The registers in/out ports line up exactly with the RAMs, for example.
Looks good so far, but why 10 bits? Most system use multiples of 4. I'm not hating or anything, just curious.
I don't know, I just think 255 is a tad small and slightly over 1000 is a great enough amount. I really do not understand why all systems are to multiples of 4, though.
I will post pics of progress: soon! like very soon! I hope!
as you can see, some of the ALU is already bussed. the orange is the output, still wiring that.
that thing you see to the right is the register system. almost EVERYTHING connects to this. the top row is inputs, and the bottom is outputs. there are 7X2 of them.
this is the viewing area, the piston number screen is still to be built, but you get the picture. neither are connected yet. to the right will be the user inputs, and behind the controls if everything goes to plan.
unfortunately, the GPU is very far from its register, so this will have, probably the biggest bus system. cant w8.
on top of all this stuff will be a platform and the command manager, saving space and preventing ugly bussing.
to ensure quality, I have asked elseagoat himself to check out the new design(the used-to-be hater). he finds the new RAM much better and well addressed. I idiotically pressed F1 before taking the pic, so his name does not show.

Ok, that's good. I wasn't intending for you to actually use that layout, I just wanted a visual representation of "no corners".
Computer progress is looking great and high quality.

thank you!
more pictures:
I mostly bussed and connected everything. well, not everything, but most of it.
the ALU output has been bussed. it is ugly to save space for the random no. gen., wich will be on the wood.
the GPU is almost bussed, told you it was going to be the longest... repeaters still need to be placed, along with the top busses...buss-ing.
the piston monitor is in place, and the save-to registers are now working, although not yet addressed.
Color-code more components so we can understand better your computer
Make it taller, not wider, that way buses will be faster
Try going for speed and not for size (probably already doing this)
Keep up the good work!!
1. OK, I will use MCEdit to change stone and already-there wool into different colours.
however, that whud mean the detailed colour coding in the ALU will be lost, and I will probably have problems navigating it. I cannot simply redo everything in wool, ither.
2. im trying, im trying!
3. duh.
4. thanks!
looking at all the parts, I think the clock speed will be around 2 seconds(probably more)
is that decent-ish?
that is the speed for the ALU to fully add and prepare the "OUT" register. RAM calculations are also under this time.
also, I optimised almost everything for speed, now including an overide system so the system does not need to w8 for data to go through all the registers and back.
i got sick and tired of bussing, bussing, debuging, bussing...
so I desided to make a sign! not just eny sign, the logo.
of course, being a redstone lover, i simply chudnt resist on wirin it up.
so it looks like this:
yep, pretty normal. BUT when you startup the computer, it slowly and epicly turns into THIS:
it slowly transforms from left to right.
it uses piston light under the word "RED"
repeaters on top and half on bottom, the cool thing is that although half are missing at the bottom, they go in sinc with the top.
the last bottom repeater triggers a piston setup displaying the 2. it was going to be black wool also, but it was not visible.

He meant bits as in pieces of redstone dust.
An old DBZ meme that should have died out by now.
Google "Its over 9000"
Sorry, i think you misunderstood, that is just the wiring and pieces, not the layout.

Do not worry, all pieces are custom remade so it all fits like a puzzle. The registers in/out ports line up exactly with the RAMs, for example.
That means 5 bit used to acess, or 32 slots of RAM, although i only use 31. That means it ccan store up to 320 bits of data. Probably suficient!
I don't know, I just think 255 is a tad small and slightly over 1000 is a great enough amount. I really do not understand why all systems are to multiples of 4, though.

I have a couple of questions ( if you have the time if no don't worry :smile.gif:
Can a program be executed form the RAM or is it only form ROM ?
if yes
Have you conceded adding a piston or D flip flop HDD ?
If yes to both You can make the ROM contain a BIOS / OS That could load code to the RAM then execute it.
All in all this thing looks great so far and I will be looking ford to the New RED GAME 2 .
