You're getting low FPS because of the Render Distance as well. I recommend turning it down to short or tiny if you are gonna record.
In my case, just as an example, no matter which recording software I use I always get somewhere around 9~20 FPS, even with lowest settings. That's because my laptop lacks a better video card, so no software will magically make the FPS acceptable.
About the door.. as the others said, it's very simple, beginners' stuff. It's good that you already know how to use a T Flip Flop, but there's much more to learn I'd say. As QuadroMan1 said, you gotta start somewhere, and everybody's been there already
