Just wanted to show you all an effective way to make sure you don't have any of those sneaky mobs sneaking around your house. Especially those damn creepers! It's a relatively simple system but works a treat, looks good and keeps you in control.
I really get surprised by creepers! Not going to happen anymore thanks to this :biggrin.gif:
Really simple and really useful.
The only disadvantage is that you need a lot of ressources. More than you can find in survival :biggrin.gif:. But that problem always exists when you build something with redstone.
Uhm you don't mine much do you ?
That is not really a lot of material used there.
Can you make a how-to video? I'm curious as to how you hooked up the pressure plates to your system.
Sure I can do that. As long as your organised with wiring its very easy. You just have to use be smart with your diode use because you dont want to have signal interference with another section of pressure plates when one is triggered. Otherwise you would be getting multiple lights on for the one intruder.
It's pretty easy though. I'll chuck a video up tonight for ya.
Link it up to a snow golum builder machine for a true sercurity system :wink.gif:
All this chat about snow golems and I never knew what they were til now. Definitely going to try and intergrate them into this system. They can't kill things though can they. It is only snow balls yeah?

Yes, only snowballs however I'm sure if you put some 'pits' beyond the sensor area the knockback could be used to send the mobs to their deaths, or simply trap them for later. Save you some arrows.
I've yet to play with snowmen yet as I've not made one in my survival mode, and I don't play with stuff in creative until i've found how much effort it is in survival to make contraptions worth it...
You could save a little bit with using wood pressure plates maybe.
Given the way mobs move, checker board style patterns of pressure plates would probally be just as effective, but probally not as asethetically pleasing. That would reduce resource use by a bit less than a half, indeed you could probally get by with a 2 in 6 off diagonal pattern given the way mobs move, but then you might need a toggle with short reset timer to prevent on/off flicking when it does move on/off plates.
Afterall, what your really after is not being 'supprised', hence the sensistivity of the sensor doesn't need to be instant, a couple of seconds would be good enough.
But what about those creepers that open your front door and then sneak up behind you when you're looking through a chest? If I were you, I woule make an iron door with a combination lock. That should keep the creepers away...

Yeah you can use wood pressure plates if you want to build it easier. It depends on how sensative you want your system to be. For example items left on the wooden plates would still trigger the system whether it be a chicken laying an egg or items dropped from mobs when they die. This has its advantages as you can maybe get a few extra easy items that you were not aware they were there.
Personally I prefer it just picking up mob/player movement so I don't get false alarms, but the real decision is up to you! :smile.gif:

Yeah you can save on smooth stone using that method. Didn't really think of doing that. Might try it like that when I go into survival mode :smile.gif:

hahaha if creepers could do that I would be scared! Thankfully though creepers are inherently stupid when they could build TnT bombs but they blow themselves up instead :tongue.gif:
This kind of thing would do good on a harcore PVP server. Not survival because you could just build a fence.
When your on a hardcore PvP server though and approaching an enemies base would you really step on pressure plates?
This would rarely work verse other players I think because out of fear of a trap people would rip apart what is around the pressure plate. Only way I could see to avoid that is if you encase the whole pressure plate sections in obsidion. Even then though break the plate and no detection :wink.gif:
Then its probably worse on you because you will be surprised!
Hey guys sorry to bring this up again, but I didn't want to start a new thread.
I've been working on another security system that makes use of snow golems. I wanted to make it automated so snow golems mechanically spawn. Does anyone know how to do it?
I have seen a few videos of it been done but I am not sure if they are using mods or they are in previous patchs. Help is much appreicated :smile.gif:

I don't think you can actually. :/
