Hello all, I am sure all of you are enjoying messing around with the pistons, seeing just what they are capable of doing, and how you can incorporate those functions to something actually useful. Now, we all probably have seen hundreds of posts on the Jeb 2x3 hidden door, and that is useful on a server, but, what's the point of having it in a singleplayer world? My recent creation will be useful on both, and it is easy to make, no complex wiring here.
1. Start by making a canal to water your sugar cane. It doesnt matter if it has current or not, personally, i prefer current in order to have the sugar canes stock pile at one point.
Example:
This canal is 1x13 in order to provide easy recollection.
2. Place your sugar canes on one side of the canal, along it.
3. Place a material (dirt, cobble etc.) next to each piece of sugar cane.
Example:
4. Place Regular Pistons on the blocks you just placed, facing towards the sugar canes.
Example:
5. Add two block behind each piston, one layer below them for wiring.
6. Place Redstone Repeaters on the blocks placed on Step 5, adjacent to the Pistons
Example:
7. Make a Pulse Generator
Example:
8. Connect the Pulse Generator to the pistons with redstone.
Example:
9. Collect!
10. Expand to the skies, the beauty of this is that you can make this as high as you want, and have it work properly.
Yes, but yours is with a button. You have to press the button to collect, this one you dont. It automatically collects it for you. (see title of the post)

That's a function of using a clock vs a button, not the repeaters powering the harvesting pistons. You can wire up those pistons without repeaters.

Let me know if this was useful or not :smile.gif:
Edit: Need a wall on the other side of the water also, or the most of the cane will fly over the canal.
Repeaters make it easier to hook up the pistons, and extend the circuit. You customize it as you wish, this the basic concept.
You can try and delete the piston sound from the resources if it bothers you THAT much. Or just turn off sound...

In any event, nice job.
