From what iv'e seen in the posts, this update is incredibly glitched and buggy. Therefore I am probably correct when I say this: Congratulations Mojang! You have surpassed EA in terms of bugs and glitches!
Yeah, I've found several glitches with the boats:
1. Boats mysteriously break sometimes far offshore of an island as if you rammed it ashore.
2. Once you exit a boat, sometimes you cannot break or reboard the boat. It becomes "there but not there"
3. When leaving a boat, sometimes the boat takes off full speed back the way you came into the ocean by itself.
4. Sometimes when launching a boat you can end up trapped in between the boat and shore similar to being buried by gravel.
On the bright-side, stearing boats is much better than before!

#1 is highly annoying; #2 is quite humorous when playing LAN (especially when you all have boats) - all the boats show up in different locations on all computers.

I'm having trouble with the NPCs in survival mode. From my own experience and the tickets at Mojira, it appears villages spawned in Desert and Savanna biomes contain a nearly permanently panicked population. Almost all of the NPCs in such villages I find since 1.7 went live (and I believe in the previous snapshot) run around like its raining or they're under attack. They'll crowd into one structure over and over, run in circles, and behave like a preschool where someone spiked the drinking fountains with meth.
At first I thought perhaps the location of the village in close proximity to the caves below was causing them to detect monsters and get scared (there were several openings I had to close, because the idiots would run down into zombie-infested darkness given half the chance) but after securing every opening and even thickening the ground a block or two in most places, the villagers are still bouncing around like ping-pong balls in a dryer.
At least they still reproduce, so I got them an iron golem, but construction is deadly to them. If they're not running in front of my tools, they're leaping off of any second floors I want to build unless I block all access to the stairs until I'm done building.
Does anyone else have a problem after loading a 1.6.4 world into 1.7.2 that EVERY new chunk is an ocean?
I mean, I expected the whole world cliffs thing, that always happens, but... WHAT THE FURDalso, why does the Minecraft Forum make is so stupidly hard to make a post? You have to jump through so many hoops it's ridiculous... I just wanted to post my mod parameters...

Alas, my friend, you have planted yourself right next to death itself! How's that for a 'peaceful state?'

Ever since there was an update a year or so ago that made the land end in sheer drop-offs down to the ocean wherever I hadn't explored yet, I just say "the heck with it" and make a new world for each update to avoid stuff like that. Yeah, it's wasteful, but I like exploring, so there you go.
Clearly you dont play many online games.....
Current bug is you ride a boat to a island. Get out and you are still in the middle of the ocean you just crossed in the boat.
It would be nice to tie two boats together - one with a chest and one with your person.

:)I have too much school to update yet, but I am looking forward to updating!
P.S:I play too much Garry's Mod too

My guess is because none of the plug-ins are updated because no-one wants to go through that hassle until 1,7,3 is out.
You know ... the Chinese made boats of stone and concrete. An aircraft carrier shouldn't float technically, either.
I was mere suggesting a boat be more durable based on the materials used to make it since the wooden ones are a joke.
