fish packed ice and fishing rod enchants new bioms diferent size nether portals alot of stuff achievment give /summon why has no1 commented this?!
I have been playing it and it doesn't seem very smooth to me. If I can look off into the distance and see a mineshaft from above ground then it is not done. If I have to stop my boat because I don't really know what's in front of me and I don't want to crash into blocks that haven't loaded yet, then it's not done. What other released games have these problems? None that I can think of. It's more of a beta thing.
I appreciate that they're adding new content, but it's not a substitute for fixing major bugs. And they're adding way too much content. I don't want to have to spend hours researching changes made to the game if I stop playing for a month and then return. I'd rather return to see that the engine was improved, and I'd love it if they made it easier to install and (de)activate mods.
By the way, last I heard they had planned on releasing the mod API back in January. Was that ever done?
They do work on bugfixes. They tried to fix the lighting error, which sorta worked. The only thing is it only works on maximum smooth lighting. Also, they did work on making chunk loading better. The thing is, as new things get added, there are new bugs. That's probably one reason they made snapshots. So people could report bugs, and the people working on minecraft can have more time bugfixing. But if something like the Mesa biome bug from 12w36a wasn't found by the creators when they did a quick test, and they said it was working correctly, how well do you think the community will react? Also, if you think it's easy to do that, you try fixing the lighting engine by yourself, with the basic minecraft lighting engine, in a week. It's not easy to fix a bug like that. They do have bugfixes in each snapshot, and at least some tweaking to get rid of the major bugs. A few of the bugs they got from the snapshots alone that were considered 'huge' were fixed asap. Don't think it's unfair, it's that bugs are easier to get rid of the shorter they exist. That's why the major bugs are major.
You have to realise somthing try running a million pictures on your computer all 16x16 pixels in one second Of course it will lag a solution to the problem would be to get a better computer if not stop complaining or put it on "tiny/small" render distance
So I was playing survival in this snapshot, got to the DIAMONDS! achievement. And I seen something that shown diamond boots. I don't know the name, but when you get to the eye of ender achievement, it's above that.
Edit: Another new achievement I seen has a wither skeleton skull, which is after the achievement for defeating the enderdragon.

Diamond boots: "Adventuring Time: Discover all biomes" Wither skull: " The Beginning?: Spawn the Wither"
The issue is, in the Nether, they are still normal size. There was also word of a possible circle Nether Portal, however that doesn't seem possible at this time.
A circular portal is not possible at this time.
However, a circular façade with a rectangular portal behind it definitely is...

Block/Item ids can now be referred to with names instead of ids
Will soon be the only way to go
Has this already been decided? Because I think I'm not the only one who prefers IDs instead of names. They're faster to type and assuming that block/item names will have to be typed in english it will obligate non-native speakers who already know the IDs (like me D:) to learn each corresponding name. I think the two options should remain at the same time.
And another thing: can anyone figure out what the tellraw command does? it asks for a "raw json message" when i try to use it, but I don't know what that is. XD
SethBling released a video explaining the /tellraw command and how to use it. He also posted a pastebin link with more information and examples. You can find the video and the pastebin is here, hope it helps.

I'm not arguing that they fix bugs, but they also introduce them when they add new features. In my opinion, since they claim that the game is released, there shouldn't be so many old bugs that persist from update to update. I'd rather they spent their time making the game more solid than adding content that I could easily add myself through mods.

a. I think you're confusing chunk loading with FPS. I don't have a problem with FPS; I have a problem with being able to see through chunks and not having them load sometimes even when I arrive at them.
b. My computer is plenty fast.
c. As I mentioned, chunks don't load until the second I arrive at them sometimes. Even if the render distance could be decreased to a 3 block radius it would still be a problem.
Look I'm not saying that the devs are slacking off - I appreciate that they are still working on the game, but I think their efforts should be redirected to strengthen the engine rather than add content. And I'm surprised that everyone here is so appeased by these updates.
I don't know if anyone found this out but if you go to the snapshot and get a potion of water breathing in your single player world, then go to your 1.6 profile and log back in to your single player world (must be same world) you will get an artless potion. Also if you try this with splash potion of water breathing you get an artless splash potion but its titled "Artless Potion" instead. o_O
Once again, I don't know if anyone found this out yet but if you enchant a fishing rod in the snapshot, log out and log back into your survival world in 1.6 (once again, must be the same world) you will get a enchanted fishing rod with no enchantments.
P.S. I'm really sorry if anyone else found out about this before I did, so sorry for taking your credit. Also I checked all 12 previous pages on this forum to see if anyone said any of these things before, but nope.
when mojang really does it the way i think it will happen, then you will reach the 4k ID limit only when you have all those block mods active at once on your client, that means 4000 active modded blocks oO
when i used the term "minecraft" i didn't mean mojang, i meant the CLIENT or SERVER, the ID-register-table is only LOCAL on this one world on the server, other worlds may have other register-tables
e.g.:
server A:
uses: mod1, mod2
mod1 has 2 blocks, registered on next free IDs 257 and 258
mod2 has 1 block, registered on next free ID 259
...
mod1 gets an update, a new block, this will now registered with ID 260
client a:
joins the server, downloads world-informations, downloads ID-register-table from server A
gets the information that mod1:block1 is 257, mod1:block2 is 258, mod1:block3 is 260, mod2:block1 is 259
server B:
uses mod3, mod1
mod3 has 3 blocks, registered on next free IDs 257, 258, 259
mod1 has 2 blocks, registered on next free IDs 260, 261
mod1 is on both servers, but with different IDs registered!
You don't have limits with names instead of ids. Plus, there is near to no chance of conflict.
And you can use compression algorithm to reduce the space, since there will be a lot of similar names.
Using unique names is one of the things Mojang needs to do to support the ModdingAPI.
Everyone has commented this, just not here because those features were added in the past 1.7 snapshot 13w36a. See: http://www.minecraftforum.net/news/881-13w36a-snapshot-ready-for-testing/
Here, try this one:
