I am now going to create a game with every single word in the dictionary (that hasn't been used for a major game) in a huge list for the title, followed by every single name and thing that could remotely sound like it could be used to title a game, then sue every game that comes afterwards for taking the words out of my title.
seriously, you CAN'T OWN A WORD. If someone used another companies design for a fan (for example, any product would have worked), the company can sue that person because he/she used the company's work to design a fan, instead of their own. But Bethesda didn't invent the world scrolls, the word was made long before any of those lawyers were born.
I can understand not allowing the titles of a game to be exactly the same, but the titles just happen to share a word.
3 foot ninja I the lost scrolls

Alright guys, calm down. A C&D letter is NOT a law suit. This is the first step in the negotiation process to arrive at decent compromise that everyone can live with. In fact, imho, it's a really good thing that this is getting dealt with NOW before Mojang has already branded and RELEASED a product with that name, only to have to possibly be forced to change it after all the money they spent in marketing, etc. This isn't heavy handed or anything, it's just SOP.
That is the most retarded thing I've ever heard of. Suing someone for using scrolls in a game wow.. Fail much? I bet Mojang will either settle it with them or win the case because that is just stupid...
Beastynater, you sir are stupid.
Skyrim is a finished game. They just have bug fixes and things to fix.
Also, the fact you think it's a "good" thing is even funnier.
Geezuz christ people. Welcome to the world of trademark infringement. One of two things happens.
Notch pays for the rights to use the word "Scrolls" as the title. Bethesda getssome cash.
Notch changes the name of the game to something else. Given that it hasn't even come out yet, this isn't a big deal!
Anyone!? Please?
