I'm glad he made this game and whatnot... It's not half bad... But I'm not really sure if he's deserving of being called the most influential person in the world...
I Agree, as awesome as I think he is I don't think he's the best.
Edit: no one else was really good on the list IMO so i voted for him.
Just remember that its not best person of the year, its most influential. I would say that he is pretty influential considering he played a huge role in breaking the games industry wide open for tons of indie devs.

I like and respect Notch. I love the game he created and I wish him great success. But let's face it, Notch isn't, nor should be considered the most influential person in the world. It's simply not true.
I would make a strong argument that he is one of the most influential people in the gaming industry. I believe funding games through crowdsourcing is creating a renaissance of indie gaming that wouldn't have happened without the ground breaking business decision Notch used to fund Minecraft.
Nice job on the game, but honestly there are far more influential people IMO then a game designer. Lets think about our freedom, and the men and woman who serve to preserve it, the police protecting the innocent or the teachers that teach us. Notch has made an impact but this kind of vote should go towards things we should not take for granted. Its a strange world we live in these days.

Notch creates jobs, made MANY people happy, and donated and did SOOOOO much for charity. He kind of does deserve votes saying he made a big influence...
HE'S #2!!! He's just under the person who has more "No Way"'s than "Absolutely"'s.
Edit: This is a vote for someone who has influenced people WORLD WIDE. Notch has pretty good footing considering he has players from nearly everywhere around the world that has a computer with internet. Next, Notch might as well dominate the world.
He has influenced an era. Minecraft spans Console , Phone , Rasberry and PC. It inspires creativity to its limit and allows the player to make what ever they want. Its a game influenced by its community and a guy who can make a game all about the community should certainly be up there. Minecraft has dominated youtube is extremely iconic across culture today. 10,000,000 sales of minecraft , and thats only counting the PC. He and the rest of MOJANG are one of the very few game companies that ain't all about money. Once you have minecraft you have it forever. Seriously Notch should definetly be up there in my book so all the people saying he shouldn't well you all building a company from the ground up alone and then taking a risk making a game and then allowing your company and game to grow to the point that you are up to such a huge pressure to make a wonderful game. Plus consider all the charity work he has done!

Well he's not the most influential person in the world. YET! Let's keep voting, people! We shall surpass Mohamed! Long live Notch!
EDIT:
Could not have put it better myself. Nice speech, UKdeccy!

Actually, he didn't just design the game, he also wrote a lot of it. HE get's a lot of criticism for the state of the code. A lot of it is due to type erasure, and the rest is usually due to obfuscation, which is arguably pretty important in order to preserve his IP. (if he didn't obfuscate a case could be made that it was now public domain in some ways).

Can you name ONE person in the service that is influential enough to be on the list? I don't think so. They are a influential group- just ask any person in countries torn apart by their "liberation", but no single one of them is really influential enough on their own. I could go on about Police and ideological concerns for a bit here, but that's clearly Off-topic, so I won't.

I don't take Canada's RCMP for granted. They are in the news every week with some new story of a Officer using unnecessary force (like shooting an unarmed 14-year old boy in the head because "he was coming towards me". Either way, the important the distinction is person and influential.
You are referring to social services provided by groups of people. By organizations. few people in those groups can easily be singled out as being in the top 100 of influential people in the entire world, by virtue of their impact never extending beyond their area.
Notch, in contrast, has influenced a hell of a lot of people. There really is absolutely no counter-argument to that- it's truth.
The results show that Notch is winning, Mohammed Morsi has more absolutelys, but 47,000 more "No ways" an absolutelys. Notch has 120K or so more absolutelys than no ways.
Definitely voted. Although it's a bit tough if it's the "most influential persson".
However, I can kinda see how Notch is influential ; he made a game that spawns many potential game developers (modders and mapmakers) storytellers (mapmakers and animators) and, well, animators, from just one game. He inspired me to go and learn a lot of things, with no other games ever doing that to me.

How so? It's not a list of the 100 most influential people of all time, just the last year or so.
