A bit of a deviation from the usual Snapshot, this one is an early look at 1.5.1 - which contains a number of fixes and tweaks for 1.5 - before its release next week. What does it have?
Ender Dragon can still grief stuff like cobblestone and chests even if the gamerule mobGriefing is set on false.
White stitching on polygon edges / White lines or black dots between blocks
Unable to combine enchanted books for a higher level enchant.
Hopper doesn't try to place items from other slots if unable from first.
Fire doesn't show on 8 layered snow and hopper
Long scoreboard objective titles can be offset screen
Breaking a Container with Items that is connected via a solid block with a Comparator does not update the Comparator
Falling Block entities start visually falling from 1 block higher than they were placed
If you don't realise that's a list of bugs that were fixed, not new bugs, that looks like a really bad snapshot.

Well 1.5 didn't last long xD. Most servers arent even on 1.5 yet lol. Speaking of which, id there a 1.5 build of craftbukkit yet as of 3/24/2013?

When is Sach finally going to realize that listing bugs as if they were intentionally added and not saying "Fixed blah blah blah..." confuses people, especially noobs?
I didn't see any confused people, but yeah, he should stop that. :3
These look like good bug fixes, though; I heard a lot about those "white lines." It's kinda nice that we already get to know what they're working on. I really enjoy these snapshots.
what would be cool is if the next update (1.6) was to add newer Adventure themed stuff, like making bats neutral, adding the ability for players in creative mode to customize mobs easier (ie, add a GUI when you right click them) and even adding the Skylands. Hmm... I wonder... what if there was a way to hatch the dragon egg, like making a nest in the overworld, and it would then combine with a saddle as a transport to the skylands where the ride able dragon acts as a portal to the skylands (sits there and does nothing, click on it to go to skylands, duplikit is sitting at your spawnpoint there) what do you all think? Name it: Adventure+ update
I don't know if I'll ever use a snapshot. I just wait for the updates. Are snapshots worth installing and playing with the risk of encountering possible bugs? I don't really want to be a tester, so am I right in thinking snapshots aren't for me?

You can back up any important worlds or just start a new world that you can test out with the snapshot... Both are really easy, if you know where the files are.

And as far as installing, just use Minecraft Version Changer. If you don't want to test, snapshots aren't for you. Getting the new stuff early, without filtering bugs first, takes the joy out of just playing the game. Besides, 1.5 hasn't even defrosted yet. Go have fun with all the new features. If the bugs really bug you that much, I suppose it's a matter of risking new and worse bugs or ignoring the ones you've got now. If you want an art gallery in the end, than you should get the snapshot. Worst that could happen (with in reason) is you'd have to switch back. But with MVC that's easy.

its usually worth it, like i got some snapshot before 1.5, no major bugs, and i got to one of the few (few being relative to all mc players) that got to try out the new texture pack format (which was awesome , i have an animated diamond switchblade), as a rule of thumb when installing a snapshot people make a seperate saves folder (im paranoid, i made a whole seperate .minecraft) and start a new world on the snapshot

Your sense of style is pathetic , I always look to java programers for style , because where ever they are , they always have .class.

I'm going to instantly upgrade to this snapshot, every block had the "stitching" for me... Sigh, well, it's fixed hopefully, haven't tested yet.
