"Burn the heretic. Kill the mutant. Purge the unclean."
This is a valid debatable topic, and the reasoning is that one console is going to have the game over the other, pretty logical that fans would post relevant information to the topic...
what is with these Minecraft fans?
What I'm pretty sure is happening with the consoles is that Microsoft is getting sort of desperate for additional content on the Xbox, and that by making it exclusive to their platform the hope is that Minecraft fans will go their direction... and Microsoft can claim they have stuff the other console manufacturers don't have. I'm quite certain that the terms were generous to Mojang.
For the sake of Mojang, I hope that the exclusivity is time-limited... in other words they might be able to move onto the other platforms if they wish in a year or so as time and circumstances may dictate. But at that point they can't sign an exclusive deal with another console manufacturer and those additional ports for other consoles are going to be behind in terms of what content or features they will have as the development teams get up to speed trying to re-implement Minecraft.

agreed, but if Mojang is smart, they might want to work on the ports soon, but the way I see it, Mojang screwed the pooch with exclusivity, with WII 2.0 and PS3 being large markets they are closing in when I figured they would branch out, like with I.O.S. and Android markets both being filled happily (wheres the windows phone port??).
Can't wait to see how this pans out, after their exclusive Microsoft contract goes out the window and sales level off, I feel it will be a bit too late to port the game to PS3 and WII 2.0, and Mojang's focus will be divided into Notches new personal interests AND all ports of Minecraft, PC, I.O.S., Android, Xbox... Thats a lot of bug squashing, I feel Mojang is taking some of the first steps out of the Indie Development title and entering the big boy league. and not for the better, they need a whole new business plan.
Thanks for this inspiring and motivating announcement, it is important to move on. (Also i really liked firefly - this series also made me think about creating a game that captures the spirit.)
What it interesting is how Notch seems to be making some significant progress with something that may be very much related to the game:
A whole lot of speculation about what he is doing here can be made, as it appears he is putting emulators into a future game sort of like the PC mod that puts a full functioning computer into Minecraft. This test shot is showing the computer running inside of a monitor screen in a virtual 3-D environment. You can even get the source code for (a version of) the emulator he is writing if you dig through his tweets.
Is this going to be "Hackcraft"? In other words, taking redstone circuits to a whole new level?

Whats fascinating about that picture you quoted there about the computer in a 3D world.. Is that he is writting the game in JAVA but programming that computer with his own idea of Assembly Language. Nice one.
I am spending ALL my money on an xbox and buying minecraft now.
No this game is not what notches Idea is because notches Idea is you play as the guy inside and are geting rid of the flames.
I'd love playing that game.

ApertureMojang Science.Firefly is my favorite TV show ever. I hope that more and more game creators consider FireFly as a game idea. No one has done it yet.
Someone better "Aim to Misbehave..."
