It isn't rigged. Anyone with curse premium was eligible, that user has curse premium and he entered. He is a real person, we would never rig a contest, there is absolutely no reason to.
Until a staff member who was directly involved in the contest responds, I'm going to go ahead and assume that this was either rigged, whoever picked it (If it's random, you still need to check who the winners are for eligibility) is stupid, or it's a scam like Primez said.
I'm not saying it IS one of those, but until it's proved otherwise, I'll consider it one of those.
It is not rigged. A winner was picked at random from the list of eligible entrants. He is a real person.
Wow, good thing it was announced so obviously, and that they left a large window of time to register. NOT
I check the forum on a daily basis, this contest came completely out of left wing. Can someone please post a link to the original article promoting it?
Actually I'd go as far to say they did an absolutely ****-poor job promoting this. Maybe if they'd actually made an effort, then intel would have gotten better ad exposure, minecraft would have sold more accounts, and the community would have had a chance to get in on this.
What a circus.
It was posted multiple times over the period of around a month, it had articles dedicated to it and it also had articles mentioning that it was on going during the period that it ran. We also ran adverts at the top of the forum for curse premium members reminding them to enter. As dulceice has shown it was mentioned multiple times:
Tobymon3393: How do you randomly enter a contest that requires you to purchase a premium account for a network of sites? Also, dulceice, where did it say you could mail in an entry? I just looked back at the very first announcement for this, and it said nothing of the sort.
It was listed in the terms and conditions. It is a legal requirement.
did they link to the curse.net advertisement page? did they register it with their state since the prize is probably valued over 500.00 usd? did they put the void where prohibited by law clause in it? i know in rhode island they need to file and pay a filing fee for it to be legal to anyone in Rhode island? hope they did all that or someone could have a field day with this
Yes, all legal requirements for this sweepstakes were met. This is why it was US only, for the sweepstakes to be legal it must be registered in a large number of places, it would not be feasible for us to register with any country but the US.
Huh, Oh I see now, it was announced a month ago and silence since then.
A more intelligent approach in today's world would be anywhere BUT the US.
Not hating on the states, good people really, it's sad but in business you need to be a realist.
Curse is an American company and running a Sweepstakes requires a lot of legal work, unfortunately it's not feasible to run one anywhere but in the US.
To everyone that is confuzzled about whether there was an option to mail in a entry, I looked over the post again and saw that if you were ALREADY a PREMIUM member, you could mail in an entry. Problem = solved.
Just saying this. But has any one notice this was Posted on Nov 4 , 2011. And today is only Nov 2 , 2011. I mean even if we was go to people ahead of us and everything. its would be only Nov 3, 2011..... Post Date is wrong. just saying. ( Thats what it said for me. Could be just my computer but Still had to say it.)

I do exist, and I do play minecraft on a regular basis. Sorry guys. :wink.gif:
HAHAHA i see what you did there! you made a new minecraftforum account impersonating TinfoilHate! that's funny, but it won't work. you don't think they'd check that? I mean come on. Just having the same username wouldn't help, you'd have to have a curse premium membership, not to mention have actually entered the contest, which you couldn't have, because you just joined today. But good try. Fail troll is fail.

Except for the fact that Citricsquid himself replied and didn't call him out on any trolling or faking. I think He would be able to check that.

The selection was entirely random, there was no "picking".

It was not a "surprise" contest and the fact that there are winners here posting shows that enough notice was given :smile.gif:
