In a recent interview, Notch mentions some possible up-and-coming changes for 1.8, such as boss fights, clearer boundaries and features for biomes, and more. On Terraria-style inspired bosses, he said that "“...might end up somehow in Minecraft ... I really like that idea.”
Additionally, he mentioned the future possibility of Minecraft resembling Roguelikes, stating that having a goal, however difficult to achieve, is often a driving motivator for players, to give them a purpose in continuing on.
Yeah that's one of my problems is that there is nothing but building I'm a very efficient person so I don't build extravagant houses and once you get to a point all there is to do is collect stone and diamond i would like a loose over arching story
Theres a mod like this its called AdventureCraft.u can build a map like that or play someone ele is(i mostly play someone else is).Its a crazy mod with cut senes and everything
Yay! Finally I can join the people who criticize an idea! I've liked every idea so far, but I HATE the defined biomes idea. Having them blend makes the world much more realistic. I would rather notch works on making biomes blend MORE not LESS. This is just really stupid and trying to copy terraria for no real reason.
Minecraft is not terraria. If I want to play that, I'll play that, if I want minecraft I want minecraft. Your game can be better than terraria.
hope its going to be as good as the rest of the game... but where are these ideas coming from? did he sell out to some one thats just telling him what to do.?? OR have i been reading to many posts on these update and slowly turning in to a hate filled flamer like the reast of the trolls on the other updates????

Um, did it ever occur to you that maybe Notch is putting these things in the game because he wants to? He's not "selling out" to anyone, just taking Minecraft in the direction that he wants to.

The chances of digging straight down into lava increase drastically if you have diamond in your inventory.
Its proven by science.
